1.5hr run with headlamp. Saw a deer and the air either was really dusty tonight or there were tons of tiny bugs everywhere. i think something swooped at me once but not sure what it was. no contact though which was good. think endurox definitely helped. i decided to only have 1/2 of the recommended serving tonight though because i wanted to save room for chinese food later.

night run, went first 3.9 with brother around 9:30 pace then finished in 1hr 23 minutes. 3.3 miles of dirt road. heard an owl hooting and saw a deer shadow. so much dust in the atmosphere it's really gross thinking about breathing it all in.

71 minutes in the dark. 3.3 miles on dirt road. i think it's time to get some new road running shoes now that i run on the roads. they're not very comfortable right now. the worst part of night running is putting on the gear.

every once in a while i get creeped out but i have a 4 mile circuit that seems to avoid as much creepiness as possible. it's all relative i guess. every once in a while you think you hear something...i think the bears may be hibernating now but in reality it's the owls you have to worry about.

took half dose of endurox. seems to be working well. unless i run over 2hrs i'm only going to take the 1/2 dose. seems to be aiding recovery. i definitely recommend it. just drink it fast.

got a late 8:15pm start. Had to pick up my brother and take him to dinner and eat at 6. Stomach was questionable to start but didn't feel too sick. started with brother. he bailed after 2 miles. something swooped down at me from a tree. my brother saw it too. it was as if it were a flying squirrel trying to attack me. whatever it was that glided then scurried like a demonized mouse. strange and unsettling. i ran the rest by myself. saw lots of eyes tonight. i guess it's later and more eyes come out to watch you. goal was just to do enough miles to not make hitting 70mpw too daunting over the next couple of days. will be able to run in daylight tomorrow which will be nice. 3.3 miles on dirt. 1hr 3 min.

Got to miss work today b/c i had to do something business oriented out of town. Got back home around 2:30pm today so got to go for a trail run in the light. started off slow (as usual) running the first 6.3 miles in an hour. I then ran the next 5.7 miles in 47 minutes and definitely was pushing it. Felt pretty good. Right hamstring felt a little tweaked which is nothing new. time for a little stretch i guess and also can't forget the endurox. 1hr 47 min run.  Saw an entire deer full of fur just left on the side of the trail. pretty gross and lame that someone would just leave that there.

almost took today off cause i just felt really tight in some toe joints and my hamstring and achilles felt off. i decided to go with my two younger brothers across the street to the woods i used to explore when i was a kid. We can now drive a mile into the woods cause of all the new fancy homes there which was nice today but sad so much has been ruined. We went to find this miniature stonehenge that used to be there about 10 years ago. It was no longer there. We then found this cool lookout rock. Mostly running but a little bit of hiking.

i then dropped the brothers off and went for another 5 mile trail run in the same woods but some other trails just to completely go back in time. the trails were ok but not the best in town like i used to think when i was younger cause they felt like my own. out there today for about 1hr 50 mins in all.

Decided to try running at a local h.s. track. It's odd that i didn't even consider this until someone at work suggested this when i was telling him of my animal encounter stories. The track isn't lit but there are enough peripheral lights that it is fine. There is also a cluster of fields that you can do an outer loop of for about 0.6 miles when the track gets boring. There is even a road loop of about 0.75 miles within the school complex which can mix things up.

Ran 2 miles easy in under 16 min! that's a first in a long time. I even stretched...the track promotes good running behavior. I then ran around the track and the fields which were much darker than the track. I was about a minute over 8 min/mile pace after about mile 8 until i came back to the track and there was now this guy running fairly hard and i ran the opposite direction and we were kind of  deadlocked with pace both running in the outer lane. I started pushing it slightly to try and gain ground and this guy obviously did too. This went on for about 1.5 miles and i was not really gaining anything despite speeding up, but then the guy disappeared. It was good to finish in 1hr 19 minutes the 10 miles. My legs were really right so i stretched some more. did 4x100m striders and then stretched again.

Running around tracks and fields gives my little toe blisters though which is a large negative. Need new running shoes...i ordered them today.

lots of rain today. it let up during running time. ran 32 laps in lane 6. estimate it was 8.6 miles. got to wear shorts and a t-shirt it was in the mid 40's. there were deer around the track tonight. definitely am going to get some music next time or a book on tape.

Ran for 1hr 11 min around the track and bethel h.s. fields and roads. I was disappointed that my mp3 player which i thought was working again no longer did. huge bummer expecting to be amused by a book on tape. didn't run more than a couple laps on the track-too boring. the fields were extremely wet but muddiness and wetness doesn't really matter when you can't see how gross it is. did 6x100 striders at the end.

2hr 24 min trail run. Explored some uncharted territory but ultimately didn't quite figure out how to get from point A to point B. I liked how i saw no one on the trails after being growled at and chased numerous times by dogs at the popular park. The rugged terrain definitely hurt even though it was slow going. Some parts of the trail were flooded in ice water which wasn't ice enough not to break through. some some crows eating a deer carcass and saw a hunting perch on the new trail i was exploring. Hopefully tomorrow i can get a significant long run in. we shall see. i hope it's not as cold as it was today.

3hr trail run. first complete out and back of 6 mile Aspetuck Valley Trail. Also ran around the park some more. Very few people and dogs on the trail although a doberman off leash charge me but didn't growl. it's still unnerving anytime a large dog comes sprinting at you because they all growl. No bad dog encounters today though. pretty good weather, maybe hit 40 so i got to wear shorts. definitely feeling pretty tired. pretty much the only thing i did today was go running.

ran at night on the track, fields, and h.s. roads. saw a pack of 8-10 deer on the soccer fields which weren't afraid of me at all. started out feeling horrible but by the end felt pretty loose and almost good. 1hr 6 mins.

water line broke under the road and a car fell into the sinkhole today when i went into work. our building didn't have any water and thus it was unsafe to do anything with chemicals so we got to go home at 1:30 today which enabled me to do an awesome trail run instead of a super lame run around a track at night with no lights. I got to listen to another koontz book on tape while i ran which made the time passing unbelievably well. the only bad thing was the gps crapped out at 3.1 miles and stayed crapped out. I ran 1hr 52 mins on the trails and will give myself a 10 min per mile day. 11.3 miles give or take not too much.

snow run. we have 8 inches now so probably 6+ inches when i started. Running in the snow with the headlamp was kind of cool but kind of annoying because all the flakes were right in your face. it took me 1hr 37 min to go 9 miles but it was really fun and i saw another runner which was cool. may try to do some xcountry skiing were i go trail running tomorrow.

it's always been annoying how my left hand always freezes while my right hand is fine. i can barely type with my left right now. the run was pretty good. i did a couple repeats on an unplowed dirt road which was gorgeous. about 5 miles on dirt with snow and the rest on disgusting sloppy roads. 1hr 43 min

couldn't pass up the snow so did 6 miles of xcountry skiing after. 1hr 41 min. it's great to have a 6 mile loop of mostly carriage roads only 7 minutes away.

no long run today. would have taken too long. while running on the roads today i chose a particularly steep hill and a car trying to avoid a plow skidded towards me and i had to jump off the road. i love how after i jumped off the road i got honked at as if i was doing something wrong. 1hr 51 minutes today. Probably about a foot of snow total now and the roads were really slippery. I saw someone else struggling trying to run where there was less snow but there was much more traction in the powder on the side of the road.

after went skiing again. 5.95 miles in 1hr 45. found a trail that no one had been on yet. the snow was great.

1hr 34 mins. better traction today. ran a new loop and turned around on this road because there was a dog randomly walking on it. it wasn't aggressive but i simply don't trust dogs not to bite me. i really liked the loop though. very hilly and interesting terrain.
