Went out early for a 5.56 mile easy run for 52 min 47 sec. It was beautiful out.
Going to go big tomorrow in prep for the 55km trail race in iceland. Will hit 25-27 miles.
Definitely will go easy and just do a few winding loops at my new running haven. With all those miles my chances of seeing a snake are moderate!

I felt pathetic the other day with my lack of flexibility. I couldn't even kick someone above the waist. I'm going to be stretching a bunch-probably won't do any good. i just think i'm doomed. I seriously don't think i could do any other sport with my lack of flexibility besides chess and running.

And I don't like how you are ahead of me in the mileage board. But today is easy and tomorrow is VO2max so Im not going to catch you until friday or saturday. Im think on saturday I might do a 5k at sub maximal effort and then go for a long run afterwards. Good idea? Bad idea? My other options are going long on friday or not doing the 5k.

there's no reason to be scared of you yet, i mean the marathon is still over 4 months away...no way in hell am i doing 3 workouts a week 4 months out. i remember i started to get burned out after about 3 months. I think i'm just going to put a solid 2 to 2.5 months of speed in there after i build up my mileage to where i think is a good place to stop. i'm thinking 75 will be it. maybe even 70, since i feel like i run plenty with it being on trails.

it's up to you but depending on how long your long run is, doing a 5k at speed the same day is retarded, at least for me it would be.

i'm telling you, the indoor track is simply faster in almost all conditions. sure world record times are faster outdoors but those were certainly done with perfect conditions. i think the average time indoors, at least for our speed, is faster.

all you have to do is run 7.2 miles today and you can temporarily overtake me on the mileage board...before i crush you tomorrow :)

if you do pass me today, i can fully live up to my blog name...instead of just extending my lead...

I seriously didn't mean to overtake you, but I missed my shortcut on my trail. You can believe that because you know how bad I am at staying on trail. As for fear, that and glory is whats its all about, but its true that you have nothing to fear... yet. But I just need them to feel good about my running. I am fine with dropping workouts for 2-3 weeks at some point if I feel burnt out again. As for the indoor track, I agree with you for the 200m track, but this track is not even oval, its more square like with slightly rounded off corners so the turns are much sharper. I was leaning into the turns a lot going only 5:50 pace and sometimes straying into lane 2 a bit after the turn. So I don't think it helped substantially.
