Easy 2 mile warmup on the elliptical. I stretched good after and then started a very easy 5 mile run. A dime sized spot on my adductor/groin hurts just like it did on Monday when i last ran. It doesn't hurt like something serious but it's more discomfort than a niggle. Several emotions. At this point the half next weekend is not looking like the race i wanted it to be. 7:40

I'm going to get in to muscle works in alpine next week and see if they have any ideas.

Sorry you're still struggling Brandon. You are being smart and listening to your body. If the 1/2 next weekend is not what you wanted, oh well. Painful to accept, but oh well. You have MANY more great races to come. Worse case scenario: you don't race next weekend. Again, no big deal in the big scheme of things. Seems like the end of the world now, but truly means nothing in the long term and for your Boston prep. Most important thing is to get healthy.

I agree with Matt. If you decide to bail on the race it will be painful and hard to do - but trust me when I say that by the end of January it will be yesterday's news and your body will thank you for it. Especially when you have sights set on a much bigger race (*BOSTON*) On the other hand if you decide to do it and you are feeling better, you might surprise yourself. There's nothing like a long taper/injury that awakens the beast in us just waiting to be unleashed. Good luck with your decision!

Very sorry to hear this Brandon but both Matt and Melody have offered great advice. It is important in my opinion that you keep the bigger picture in mind and not risk making the injury worse.

If you need to do the half for the runners series might I recommend becoming an honorary pacer with me and having A LOT of fun. :)
