Personal:

My name is Wes, I'm married with two wonderful children. The nickname BaldNSpicy came from the fact that I have been balding for a (long) while now and spicy for my love of very spicy foods (Thai and extremely hot wings are my favorites).  If eating doesn't bring me near tears and leave me sweating, it's not worth eating.  :-)

Oh, and I'm also known for my doorags.

Scheduled rest day and race packet pickup.  Feeling OK.  We're hitting the Pirates game tonight since they're giving out fleecies (think Snuggies) and we're taking my daughter's new boy friend (she keeps telling me they're not 'going out' since she's not 16 quite yet) and my son's friend.  Should be a good time.  I've committed to myself that I am NOT going to eat a bucket of wings, but I may treat myself to a cone if I eat a decent meal sometime today.

Cool!

I hope Stargell and Clemente come through for you guys tonight.

Wait, I was having a flashback to the 60s when the Pirates won games.

Good luck in your race, and good luck to the Pirates (had to check our own schedule before I said that, to make sure they weren't in Pittsburgh tonight).

Oh come on, Rob. You don't have to go back that far. It's *only* our 18th consecutive losing season. Last year we set the record at 17 but we weren't satisfied with that. We needed to do one better. But hey, who cares when you get a snuggie. lol

A few weeks back, I was listening to the game on the radio while my daughter and I were driving somewhere. They announced that with that loss, they were one game away from an 18th losing season making them the record holder of losing seasons in ANY north american pro sport. I had to explain what that meant to her, that even with all the games left in the season, they'd have to win every single one to be over 500 - a winning season. She said...yes, but they can still have a winning season if they win every game from here on out. I told her, of course that's true, but the likelihood is extremely low in a game like baseball where one pitch can change the game from winning by 2 to losing by 2 (grand slam, for instance). She said, "Yes, Dad, but there's *still a chance*, right?" All I could say is, "Yes." She is such the optimist and has a heart for the underdog. I didn't tell her the next night they lost.

Flat, just checked the race weather forecast and it's looking pretty good. Race time it should be about 60F but a 15-18mph wind. Thunderstorms today, but they should be cleared up by game time. If not, I'll just huddle under my snuggie.
