I had to sit up until two am waiting for my son to get back from a date so it ended up being a late one again.  I was pretty sore and fatigued from the workouts this week so I debated even running this one today, but I needed to get a tempo workout in.

Just about perfect conditions for a race today.  This was a first in a while, starting a race already tired!  The first 6 miles went fine, on pace at around 5:30, but man I was as fatigued as I have ever been I think.  It was the kind that just overwhelms your whole body.  I simply had to back off to 6 minute pace and bear it out.

Good news is, I'm training at close to the limit, bad part is that it really sucks to try and race in the middle of this.  About a minute and half slower than last year in near perfect conditions.

Why are you beating yourself up! Great time.. And yes you will be slower when you are training hard. You know that race is weird Steve, some years I have run well and others I have bombed. An awful lot depends on weather in my opinion. One reason I chose not to go this year. Who knew? Plus.. the amount of money for entry, gas, food etc just did not make it worth it to me even if I managed to get some small amount of prize money. LOL!

steve ash, dont forget the time you ran of the course. ugh I know that feeling.

Steve, you did great today! I would be sitting pretty with a 5:45 half marathon pace right now. I feel like im battling my way back and its slow. I wanted to run that race but after last years horrible weather and slow start to a year im having I decided not to. Great time dont be ashamed of it. Keep up the great work and if you need me to chaprone your son on his dates, im hirable.

I would kill my son if he came home that late.

Walter, he needs someone to tell him it's time to get his butt home, dad needs to go to bed.

I need some down time. Enough running for a bit!
