Smell the dirt, feel the mountain, taste the wind.

"Our legs are tight, our feet are flying, and we are gliding over the roll of the land. The sun is up, the air is fresh, the stone is old, and we are free and at peace. The clock has stopped because another time has taken over." C. Bowden
After a long day of work I talked the Hotel driver into taking me out in the Las Vegas desert to run. I'm sure he thought I was nuts, but it was awesome to run 12 miles back in a full moon middle of the night..

Hey Steve. Based on your last entry and some others I've read, I have to recommend that you read George Sheehan's "Running and Being". It's my favorite book ever written on running. But I think you have to be the sort of runner that does things that appear - to non runners at least - a little odd. I think it's out of print, so you may have to find a used copy. I read it over and over again and it makes me feel good about my insanity.

I know. It's a challenge to be safe with this hobby sometimes. I had a favorite course out of the hotel in Chicago I always ran that took me over to the south end of the lake until one day a car pulls over and an undercover police officer asks me what the heck I was doing. He just shook his head and said that even the cops drove unmarked cars through there.
Rob, I'm going to check out that book. Thanks for the idea. I'm always on the look for something to read.

I noticed that you spend a lot of time in Minneapolis. I lived there for a couple years and could pass along some good running routes. Although it looks like you are there enough to have maybe discovered them yourself?

Seems there are routes everywhere! I just head out and pick up something. Today I found a cross country ski trail and spent the afternoon trying to pass them..
