I have raised two running children, one competitive and one not.

I have learned to run in ice and snow and I don't complain.

Work towards a faster marathon by Spring 2012.

Get my 5K down to 21:30.

Place in my division at duathlon and triathlon.

Train for biathlon.

7 easy miles in the pool early!  Time flies when you have someone to talk to.

I want to do a double run today and hit the trails about 2:00.  Meanwhile, busy morning, and want to fit in some strength training.

Total darkness shifts

to soft colorings and then!

sun explodes the sky

PM update:  6 easy miles in the park, some rain.

Track workout.  Track always starts at 5:30 on Tuesdays; a group of us meets and jogs for 2-3 miles on the way to the track, then we all do our workouts and return to our cars.  This is the first evening that it has still been light at 5:30!  Spring is coming.

My assignment was to do 4X200m hill repeats at .48, 2X200m track repeats at .48, and 3X800m track repeats at 3:30.  Hills were:  .51, .48, .48, .50.  Flat 200s were:  .47, .46.  800s were:  3:25, 3:26, 3:35.

This morning I did 45 minutes on the bike, inside as it was still pitch dark out when I had to workout.

Not enough sleep after yesterday's harder workout.  Had to do the five easy miles alone, in the dark this morning.  They were REAL easy, in the low 10s.  My legs felt especially dead until about the third mile.  By the end, I had some energy back and did running drills in front of my house for another 20 minutes.

All my shoes are so muddy that I can't even tell which ones I'm putting on.  I am going to wash a whole load of shoes today - 3 pair for me and 2 pair for my daughter.

I'm driving down to Seattle today to take a friend to the Dr.  Stopping at a spa on the way back and having a body scrub - HUGE TREAT!  When I get home, my son will be here from his university.  He is racing his snowboard race this weekend at Mt. Baker, and wanted to get up here a day early.  I'll be up at the mountain Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so hopefully will get a lot of skiing in.  I'm coming back to town on Saturday am to do my Chuckanut 50K training run though.

Ouch!  Not enough sleep and a damp and cold early morning.  Somehow the dampness makes it seem soooo much colder outside.  Needed to hit the track by 5:15 to get to yoga by 7:00.  WU, then tempo intervals of five minutes.  Tempo pace is 7:38; intervals were 7:36, 7:25, 7:44, and 7:38.  This is perfect enough for me.  Except for the third one, where I was whining in my head and pretending that I couldn't do it.  I am such a baby sometimes.  It was great to finish and get to yoga.

Now its sunny out and I want to go for a bike ride, but must do some work and wait for the fuel to kick in, as I'm EXTREMELY tired.

PM update:  Luckily, the fuel kicked in and I got my work done, and it was still SUNNY!  Nice longish bike ride, man was I trashed by the end!

Oh, I forgot to mention earlier that I signed up for the Chicago Marathon on 10/10/10.

Sucky run.  My crazy day on Thursday and skiing all day on Friday definitely affected the quality of this run.  When will I ever learn.  First few miles were easy trail, easy pace (9:08, 9:21, 9:00).  Then the climbing to Fragrance Lake and around the ridge (13:59, 12:33, 11:39, 11:03).  Descent to interurban trail (9:10).  Here I started my MP 20 minutes.  This amounted to 2.54 miles at an average pace of 8:12.  I was very tired today, so this pace felt like my tempo pace!  My Garmin was recording wildly stupid pace data here, so I only had "feel" to go on for pace.  I am quite pleased about this, actually, because I got the exact pace for MP miles without having the Garmin.  Sadly, after running easy for about 10 minutes, I had no energy left for tempo miles, and I knew it.  So, I drove my car back down the road a ways to meet my friend who had done a second hill loop.  I just thought she might be tired.  I jogged up the steep road to the trail and jogged up the trail for about another 1/3 of a mile, met her, and jogged back to the car.

On the positive side, it was a 2 1/2 hour trail run, with challenging hills, somewhat sunny skies, and some faster miles randomly thrown in there.

Back to the mountain now.
