I have raised two running children, one competitive and one not.

I have learned to run in ice and snow and I don't complain.

Work towards a faster marathon by Spring 2012.

Get my 5K down to 21:30.

Place in my division at duathlon and triathlon.

Train for biathlon.

I didn't run this morning.  Last night when I got back down the mountain and took off my ski boot, my ankle was swollen, a lot.  I decided to wait until morning because nothing really hurt.  By the time I went to bed it hurt.  During the night it hurt a lot.  This morning the swelling had gone down into my foot.  I checked for spider bites, then called my Dr.  Still not panicking.  But by this point, I pretty much figured that I had somehow broken my leg.  I began planning marathon training on the bike and in the pool.  Not panicking, just dealing with it.

Dr. says its not broken, he worked on it a bit, and the pain is better.  I've been alternately icing and heating all afternoon, keeping it up, and hoping it is better tomorrow.  Still not panicking.

So what did the doc. say the swelling comes from? I imagine the pain is from the swelling.

Sounds like you're doing the right thing, RICE and NOT panicking. Hope it's all better by morning!

This is weird! Spontaneous pain/swelling. Good luck. I guess you will not be coming south this weekend?

I don't know yet Sno. I hope I'll still be running that 5K at Greenlake.

Good job on not panicking. I hope the ankle gets better quickly.

I always had a hard time getting a good fit in ski boots. Maybe the swelling is due to wearing your ski boots a long time and the fit wasn't perfect...hopefully...
