I have raised two running children, one competitive and one not.

I have learned to run in ice and snow and I don't complain.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Work towards a faster marathon by Spring 2012.

Get my 5K down to 21:30.

Place in my division at duathlon and triathlon.

Train for biathlon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Joining Forrest Gump

Nice long hip strengthening and stretching session this morning, then up to the mountain for XC practice. The snow was very soft today, and skating was SO HARD!  I am starting to rethink whether I want to skate in the race or just use my classic XC skis instead.  The hills in soft snow were so much more work.

Home to sunshine and an easy four running miles (8:48, 9:09, 9:03, 9:24), with running drills!  I feel as if I have had a whole day already and its only 1:47!

Well, soon this skiing gig will be over, hooray! Its adding a lot of complication to life right now to work in snow time for sure! The Ski to Sea relay is really a fun day, though. 500 teams with 8 people on each team; it is really quite a production. I can't believe how many people in this community are involved in it one way or another.

Its just a relay here in Bellingham, WA, where I live. Its like the big welcome to summer event. Starts with my leg, the XC ski, way up on top of the mountain, then there is a hike up and downhill ski down leg, then a running leg, then a biking leg, then a canoe leg, then a mountain biking leg, and finally a kayak leg in the bay, finishing in downtown. There are some competitive teams, but mostly its just for fun for everyone. My team captain has done all the legs now!
