Olympic Oval today for a rough and mentally grueling marathon pace run. It sure beats taking a chance of breaking something outside though. One thing I like about the track is that it doesn't lie, it is unfailingly fair and accurate. Good if your trying to get a handle on where your fitness may be at. However painfully bad for your morale if you believe that you are in better shape than you really are! 15 MP miles in 1:22:13 total time. Not feeling quite as snappy this week as vs last because of my recent sinus infection. So it is possible with the slowdown that almost inevitably occurs in the last 10k of a marathon that this is probably a true avg pace marker. If so I'll take it for a flat course at altitude any day.

Steve,

It looks like you are getting in to great shape. Keep at it and you will be flying this year!

Nice pace and distance. You've had a lot going on with your studying and job and family. But you still manage to pull off great time and mileage. Your fitness is extremely impressive. Enjoy Sunday if you take it off.

Im hoping that the length and intensity in the quality sessions will make up a little for the lack of overall mileage. It works to an extent, but you always run the risk of burnout and an ill timed peak. Especially if you are doing a lot of vo2 max work or short speed.

You just PR'd for the non-aided half en-route! Very good. This confirms my belief that you are really a 2:15 marathoner that just has never been in shape to actually do it.
