Personal: I was a single mom. Two times over. We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions. Then, I met a man I didn't deserve. And he loves me so much. And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer. Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now. But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway. This is my failure blog now. Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded. Favorite Blogs: |

| | Giant confidence boost today! Met up with Mike for a long run, the intention was 18 easy, but about 11 miles in Mike started to feel bad. I told him I would go get the car and come back for him. At mile 12 I struck out at a brisk pace. I told myself to run smooth and steady, but stay well within my aerobic range, no straining, nothing so hard as tempo pace, just a strong steady pace that I would not be afraid of if today was marathon day, and no peaking at the watch to keep myself honest. Checked splits after, and was pleased to see that a smooth and unstrained pace was 6:40, 6:36, 6:42, 6:48, 6:49, 6:44. Give me good conditions on race day and I believe I am currently in sub-3 shape--this happened in 80 degrees, 61% humidity, but there was cloud cover which helps immensely.. Drove back and found Mike, he was cruising along, had found his second wind. We were both happy! Off to bed, one more night at work before a few days off! Totally stoked!!

| | Backed the ol' ambulance up to an unnamed track at 4:30am, hopped the 7 foot fence, and made it 3 miles before we got a call. The second time over the fence is the fastest I have ever hopped one, with a radio in my hand and keys in my mouth. Got off and went home and made it 9 ez on the home treadmill before Mini-me was up and roaring and ready for my undivided attention! Everyone have a great Labor Day!

| | I knew this was a little soon after Sunday's 18, but wanted to get some miles in before leaving for Houston tomorrow to visit my sister. I won't run tomorrow and suspect there will be a reduction in running for a few days so I decided to go ahead and start a workout, with the full understanding that I would jog it in as soon as my body gave the signal and not push it. It was after 9:15 when I started and temps were in the 80s by the time I hit the 5 mle mark. 2 mile warm up, 3 at mp 6:51, 6:43, 6:49, 1 mile jog, then started hmp mile repeats with two minute jogs and knew right away as the timed diminished that I was on borrowed time. I did 4 6:30, 6:24, 6:36, 6:38 and then jogged it in to 16 from there. I want to be careful not to put myself into an overtraining hole. This was good enough for today, off to pack for my trip!

| | 7:38 ap. Nice early morning trot through my sister's giant subdivision in Sugarlad. Very humid, but nice to start a run before sunrise for a change. |

| | Got up at 5 and jogged 10 ez through the Houston humidity, then went with my brother in law to the nearby park for an easy 5k, ran the last mile in 6:36. To stretch my legs, then joined his hour long bootcamp class to get my buns kicked. Fun! |
