Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

Pretty happy about this.  I worked all night then had a monster zero-carb energy drink(gross, I know) and warmed up for the 5k.  It was 80+ degrees, muggy, and a gnarly 21 mph headwind in miles 2 and 3, so I was thrilled to roll in under 20 minutes.  Now I'm going to bed, hopefully will get up and get a shakeout in before work.  Splits reflect the wind, 6:09(tailwind, felt great), 6:30, 6:39, 5:36 pace for the final .1.  6:09 would have been sustainable without the headwind I think.  Will work toward getting my 5k under 19 minutes, hopefully within a month.

Great race.

Looks like you are back too normal; i am surprised how are you able to perform after a night shift; i did nightshifts for 8 years; this is not everybody's ability; some people just need less sleep and some more; congrats; in the context of a night shift amazing performance; i wonder how the body can take this.

Wow! Nice job after a night shift and everything! And a win!

Awesome job April! You are crazy and I love it. Good practice at running fast when completely fatigued. You will definitely hit that sub-19 very soon.

If you can do that on only a little sleep and in bad running weather, just think what you can do with better conditions! Way to go!

Thank you for being such a motivating example and showing (again) that you come back strong from injury. It means a lot to me and I'm sure a bunch of other people on the blog. Congrats on this race, I can't wait for your sub 19!

From SlowJoe on Tue, Jun 25, 2013 at 10:26:28 from 64.134.125.126

Wow, great race. You had a lot going against you and still broke 20. Congrats!
