Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

You seem like the best person to ask on here always running in the hot heat! What is the best way you'd recommend to train your body to adjust to it. My next race is known for being high 90's & I want to go in prepared... Run around with a sweatshirt on? :)

Christie--hmm, I guess the best advice is to start running in the heat of the day whenever possible! I have had an easier time adjusting this year, not entirely sure why. I keep my home at 75 degrees so I'm not in air conditioning all the time, and I wear nothing but a sportsbra and shorts when running in the heat. Running in a sweatshirt will keep you warm for sure, but doesn't do the heat of the sun and humidity justice! What race are you planning? I will say this--adjust your pace expectations. Your heart rate and effort will be higher at slower speeds, more and more dramatically as the heat increases. racing in the 90s sounds truly miserable!
