lifted, ran 5 miles in the morning at the gym
ran 8 miles at the track and watched Cooper run the mile 8:08 in blue jeans and no shirt! Not bad for 7! He runs just like his dad, a long stride head up, stiff back. Glorious day.
Wow, I wish I had the pain tolerance that you do! I know I could break 2:30 for sure in a marathon. I broke my pelvis in 1993 and still feel pain when im in the latter part of marathons. You are definately my idol, keep up the great work and determination.
hahaha... Walter that makes me feel great! But don't kid yourself, I frequently feel pain back there! For two days after my last race I dreaded sitting for very long!
My gosh, by the look of your times, your not to far off of a 1:14! You are awesome! I know what you are going through besides giving birth with back and hip pain. I cant believe i havnt met you yet. When is your next race and where? Keep pushing on!
Thanks, I'm 4min and 50 sec. off. ;D Were do you live? Utah? I'm running Bix 7 next! woohoo and you?

Annie,
My long time running friend just found out she has three pelvic stress fractures. I was wondering what you did for recovery and do you have any advise that I might be able to pass on to her. She is feeling very down and thinking she will never be able to run again. Thanks in advance.
I broke my pelvis in 23 places from being hit by a car and I had the choice to do surgery or try to heal myself. I chose to heal myself and they put a harness around my waist and I committed to not move for 1 month. I luckily was in a position where my parents could have me in there home and I just laid for 1 straight month watching soaps all day and lucille ball and being bored out of my mind but i know i benefited from this. I also did pool therapy after several weeks to get motion back without putting weight on my pelvis. I am living proof of healing without surgery. for all its worth thats my two cents.
Oh Lori, I'm so sorry! Mine wasn't like walter's. It was a stress fracture. Once it broke through I literally couldn't walk for the next three days. My husband had to carry to the bathroom, and that duty was very painful in itself. Like walter I just did NOTHING for 6 weeks. I was a teacher, and it was summer so luckily I just laid around and only got up to go to the bathroom. My husband helped with our (at the time) one child, or he went to my mom's daycare, and I also had to live with my parents at the time. After six weeks I started pool running (they have a pool) and walking short distances. Running was still impossible. Everytime I tried I made it about 3 strides and had to stop due to pain. at 8 weeks I began doing weight bearing strengthening (pushups, sit-ups, wall sits, at 10 weeks I was running. It was 3 months before I could run daily, 2 months after that I got pregnant. I recommend staying off of it for 6-8 weeks then SLOWLY working back into it, and NOT getting pregnant for a year. The pregnancy ended up being very tough, the baby was huge, and I still have problems 5 years later. Surgery was recommended after will because of torn ligaments in my femoral socket, and the trauma my hips encounter, again I just took 'er very easy this time for a year, and everything healed itself! Tell her the ability to run again rests on her ability to rest now.

Walter and Annie, Thanks so much for your info. I hope you don't mind if I copy your replys and send them on to her. I hoping that I can give her some incouragement and support to let her know that even though right now she is struggling it dosn't have to be the end of her running.
Its nice to know your not the only one going through rough times. It took me 6 months from my wreck before I could walk on my own without pain. then another couple of years before I could run. Remember everything is conected to that area and its pretty serious to heal before you push yourself. Good luck!
Sorry... Life is crazy, and keeping two logs got the best of me! I'll get this one caught up. I'm running Chicago If i can keep it together for a few more weeks! Did a marathon simulator @ 6:13 pace... The goal is 2:42-2:43...
Awesome, I feared injury. Not having time to update the blog is much better. I'd be interested to hear what the simulator is when you get a chance to blog it.
