Started the morning with a mile warm up then 5 times 2 minutes on and 2 minutes.  The "on" time was a little disappointing.  Averaged 6:05/mile pace which is a bit slow for that short amount of time.  Since it was a light speed session, I went home after the run and changed my clothes then went to Firehouse.  Good total body workout today,  Included a couple of runs which I took super slow.

Nice work Andy. Random question for you...do you feel like the focus on strength training has improved your running times? I'm just wondering what your thoughts are. I just started a 3 days a week 45 min strength training program (mainly for fun because I have ADD and can't run fast with these dumb feet)and I'm interested to see if it has a positive or negative effect on running.

The gym I go to is mostly boot camp style workouts. The focus is on overall body fitness and not bulking up. We spend a lot of time on core strength and anaerobic activities. I'm not sure if it has made me a faster runner. Because of my atrocious diet, I am carrying 20 extra pounds than I used to (not muscle) and my times are slower because of that. If I could get that under control then I would have a better idea of how much it helps. I think that my times for half marathons and shorter are better than they would be if I was not going to the gym. I have a fear that my endurance for a marathon has suffered. My focus isn't on running PR's anymore so I am content with what I am doing. Not sure if that answers your question.

That was a great answer Andy, I appreciate it. I have no idea what my focus is right now. But I do know that the strength training just makes me feel more fit overall so I am excited to try something new.
