Finally back from San Diego and it was tough to go from partly cloudy with temperatures in the mid 70's to 20 degrees and smoggy.  Didn't get back until after midnight but I had to get out to make sure that I still knew how to run.  I'm not sure that I have taken this much time off since I started running.  My hamstrings are still sore but everything else felt really good.  My lungs have finally cleared and they didn't even feel like they were working during the run.  I've decided that it is now time for me to start training again.  I don't have any races planned but want to get back into the shape that I was in last year.

The trip was great.  The only bad part was seeing all of the people running while I was playing with the kids on the beach.  The weather was amazing and would have been perfect for running.  The kids had a ton of fun but I'm sure will have a tough time going back to school today.

Sounds like you and the kids had a great time. See, it didn't kill ya to take a few days off.

Hope the trip was good. What training plan/philosophy are you thinking of following? You are more dedicated than me, as I struggle to stick to a plan.

So did you get to show off your new found guns from the pullup contest.

Welcome back.

So what distances and what races are you considering?

From Andy on Wed, Jan 21, 2009 at 12:57:07

There are still no races in the near future but I need to start training like I have a race on the schedule. I'm going to start ramping up the mileage (mostly with the Saturday long run) and try to get a couple of speed workouts in per week.

Good to have you back, Andy. We were in San Diego back in August and I went for a run along the beach, but it was tough with all the humidity.

From Smooth on Wed, Jan 21, 2009 at 16:20:27

Welcome home! Sounds like a fun time with the kids. Glad to hear you're ready to start a new training cycle. Hope 2009 will be good to ya.

Yeah I am sure that is why you were looking at all the girls running on the beach is because you wanted to RUN with them!

The kid had a tough time going to school for sure, but did you have a tough time going to work also?
