Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

Horse park loops with Jake, 10k. We had an interesting discussion about the mindset differences in men's and women's running.

You've got to give us more details than that. Now I'm all curious about the discussion!:)

i remember jake writing this once somewhere on the blog:

"men battle to bond; women bond to battle"

maybe the discussion was along those lines?

or maybe -- women run to get leg compliments, and men run to get leg compliments?

Long story short, the topic came up as we were taking about the USA 1/2 Champs in Houston, and wondering whether it would be like last year in Duluth, with 150 guys and only 50 girls there. I think the time standards on the female side of things are actually a little too tight and discourage some women from going there. But anyways, the main jist of what Andrea is (probably referencing) is that we agreed that in the case of something like the USA 1/2, guys are more likely to show up and run even if they aren't in peak condition. Women are more likely to (be more sensible?) only race if they are truly in condition to compete. I think our consensus was their either men are more aggressive, or women are less stupid. Sometimes :-)
