Easy 10k hill route. My mileage has been horrible as of late, can't seem to get my foot healed.  My plan is to still run a 1/2 marathon this Saturday.  I feel like I'm not in good shape. I have to remind myself that I've run more miles this past year than any other year in my life. As far as Saturday goes, I've got no expectations, I will just go out and see what I can do.

Sorry to hear that foot isn't getting healed up. Some injuries just stink - you can do everything right and it still takes way longer than you would ever expect. Glad you'll be able to run SoJo, though - there really isn't any pressure on you, so just do what you can do!

ACorn,

Sorry to hear that news - the foot issue. I am hoping you do well during the Half Marathon - given the circumstances. I have been a little out of the picture with keeping up with blogs - this is the first I am hearing about that. Not the best feeling putting in the miles and training and going into the main event injured. Try to enjoy the HALF! Myself, I did not run the Marathon in Hartford on Saturday - instead ran a 5K with two of my children. Listen, Hope you and your family are doing well (foot injury aside).

Jake-

I'm actually doing the Haunted Half, lets be honest, I need all the help I can get.

That's a harder course than it looks on paper! The second half is pretty tough.

Agreed, miles 7-10 when it flattens out/slight uphill will definitely be a test after the downhill miles. I'm trying to decide if I should be conservative for the first 7 or just bomb it and try to maintain/suffer for the last 6. Thoughts?

The hill just after 7 is a tough one. The one ~10 is short, but really steep. I think you can run fast down the canyon and just realize you are going to slow up on those hills - I almost feel like the best strategy is to use them as a bit of recovery, then try to get your legs turning over again afterwards. Both of the tougher hills are followed by nice gradual downhill, so you can make the time back up for sure.

Thanks Jake! I saw you got a retweet from Saucony Racing, I am now one of your humble followers.

James would probably be able to tell you exactly how to run that course... he's run the same thing in another race (Freedom Half)
