A friend ran the Big Cottonwood Marathon this morning.  He was shooting for the 3:05 qualifier.  I jogged 3 miles to meet him and ran with him from mile 19 to mile 26. He hit the wall at mile 21 and we were running about 8 minute pace for the last 5 miles.  Sadly, he didn't qualify but still had a good experience.  At mile 26, I split and did a 2 mile harder effort then cooled down for a mile.

So after seeing him hit the wall, do you want to run a marathon more or less now? :-)

More! He stopped and walked a couple times, I didn't know what to say to him.

I was pacing a friend in the HM one time, and something similar happened. I tried to get him going with a steady stream of verbal abuse but nothing worked.

Anyway, cool way to get in a 13-miler, and a nice work for a friend as well!

ACorn,

Hey what is up??? He was going for 3:05. What did he do it in?

Hey I hit the wall during some of my marathons. Not fun. Who can figure it out? If you do let me know. BUT...my PR for the Marathon is 3:54 and I got that with the last nine weeks of training being a whopping 20 weekly miles! I was not expecting a PR. And I still have yet to figure that one out.
