HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATALIE!!!!!!!!!

Today at track, we did our 2 vertical laps warm up and dynamic drills. We broke out into groups and discussed the oval. Since it was closed until 5 pm and it was barely 4:00, we decided to meet there at 7. So Natalie, Sarah B and I decided to throw in a chemistry study session before heading out later. Nat drove Sarah B, Sarah S, and I out there and we met up with Tomy, Bill, Dakota, and Kevin for 5 1000s. We did 1 mile warm up and 1 mile speed changes, and I had a sideache on my lower left and upper right of my tummy. When we stopped to stretch and change shoes I breathed it out and didn't change shoes because I had left them at the school and they ended up in Bill's car. For the first 1000 I think I started too fast, because at the 500 mark, I suddenly felt as if someone had stabbed me on my left side. I tried to squeeze it out and breath as I always do to get rid of sideaches, but the pain stayed the same. By the end of that one I was crying, but I calmed down, breathed it out, and sat out the 2nd 1000. Dakota brought my shoes in (THANK YOU) and I changed into my flats. I joined the others on the recovery lap and did my 2nd 1000 while they did their 3rd. I had it in my head that I was going to do all 5, because I am determined to make it to state this year and go to Arcadia and Great Southwest. I ran my next  one at a 3:59, which shocked me. I ran my next one a 3:58, and the next also a 3:58. Everyone else was so happy to be done, and I knew I had to finish. I borrowed Natalie's watch for my last one, which really helped me know where I was at the 500. Surprisingly, I ran a 3:48!!!! It made me so happy to know that I pushed hard while doing it alone. I did 12 laps cooldown with Birthday Girl, Tomy, Bill, and Kevin. It felt so good to be done, and this chocolate milkshake is DELICIOUS.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATALIE! YOU'RE AN ADULT NOW AND CAN SIGN YOUR OWN RACE PAPERS! :) teehee.

None of the coaches were at the school by 3, so we decided to be good and start our vertical laps and drills. We were about halfway through drills when Bill showed up, then we had a stretching circle before breaking into groups. We did leg lifts, wall sits, and step ups before leaving on our City Creek 12 miler. We ran up 9th south, over on Guardsmin to 5th south, through the U campus to the alley through the neighborhoods to Shriners, to 11th avenue to City Creek, up City Creek a mile and back down to the capitol, down State Street to South temple, up to 13th east, and over to 9th south and down into the parking lot. I ran with Kiley most of the time, #hashtagging everything we saw. When we got to City Creek, Kevin was running backwards and claimed he got lost, so the three of us ran together for the rest of the run. It got pretty cold. Kiley took me home and then I went over to the freshman fair to recruit freshmoneys for next year.

Today we met in the commons for the usual workout. Kiley was early, so Dominique and I took her on a school tour through the worlds most famous high school. She made a man friend. Anyway, onto workout. We all did our 2 vertical laps, then drills with strides. Then we broke and did box jumps, some stretching, and onto our run. I went on an 8 miler with Natalie, Bill, Tomy, Chris, Kiley, and Sarah S. We ran along 13th over past Sugarhouse to that one street we always run along to get to Alden on our cemetery run. We ran up to 17th east, then over to 21st south, up to 19th east, over to Sunnyside, down to Guardsmin, to 5th south, turned around back to Sunnyside, down to 14th east, over to 9th south, to 13th east, over to 8th south, crossed the street, ran along the front of the school, and went far into the parking lot behind the school to finally get at 8. I felt pretty good the first 4 miles, but then my stomach was hungry so it growled the rest of the run and it made it harder to keep up with the others. But I managed to stay with them for the rest of the run! Tomorrow is race. day.

I did a mile warm up and a mile speed changes before the mile with Kiley. When they seeded us, we went together in the 2nd heat at a 5:45 seed. At the beginning of our race, everyone went out really fast, and I would've too, had Kiley not said to me that they went out really fast. She was right, everyone was worn out and we passed them in the last 800. I got a PR! 5:44 to a 5:41, 3 seconds yay! We did a mile cool down and waited for the rest of the girls heats of the mile, and the boys heats, and that took a good 3 hours. By 7:00 (the time the 2 mile was scheduled to start)they were just finishing the 400s. Kiley and I went as seed 1 and 2 in the 800, and our goal was 1:17 and faster, to get about a 2:30 each. I don't really remember what happened in that 2 minutes and 42 seconds, it was all a blur and I failed to reach my goal. I did a cool down and went home.

We did our flagpole to flagpole run today. I ran with Bill, Natalie, Chris, Tomy, and Sarah S along 13th to Westminster, around the flagpole, along 13th to Presidents Circle, and up to the flagpole. Tomy and I only needed 4 today, but the others needed more, so Tomy and I turned around and went back to East on 13th east while they went a larger route.

Today we went out to the Saltair to begin the Winter Series with the 5k. We did 3.5 miles warm up, out on the course to the turnaround point from the parking lot and back. I did a couple of strides before starting. I don't really like this race because it's out and back on the same road forever, and once you turn around you can see the Saltair but it just doesn't seem to get any bigger or closer. It's just there. When I finally finished I did a half mile cool down and headed home because I had to get ready for our junior prom day activity.
