Getting back in the swing after months-long layoff. Want to drop 10-15 lbs before adding any substantial miles, guessing I'm up to 165 or so. Intended a leisurely run around Fresh Pond, but a chick with an ipod tried to pass me. She didn't get far! Maybe a 7:50ish average though I won't keep time until a bit lighter on my feet.

A very stately trot around Fresh Pond, then 15 min cool-down on the elliptical. Hottish and sweaty, but rather a nice evening.

 Left achilles and posterior tendon-that-connects-to-the-achilles somewhat sore. Fitness in quads is not good, they've already got that glycogen-depleted feel but it's fine if I keep below 9:00s.

Saw the Dr., more baseline biometric data... they are ugly: BP: 130/90 RP: 74 Weight: 167 Shouldn't surprise me after ten months of inactivity, but not fun to see. Aiming for 2.5 lbs/wk -- 153 by July 4. Then I can start training.

Gal's to the river up and back. Not fun, not fast. Beautiful evening, couples on the benches; my body however did not inhabit the garden of terrestrial delights. Like running with a 20-pound weight belt. Used the heart rate monitor & stayed in the 150s for everything but the end (163). Took the whole 3 min cooldown to get back to 115.

10 pm and 76 degrees. Feeling better, but abdomen is awfully tight. An odd sensation.

PM: Managed 1:20:00 on the elliptical. Nice!

Fail fail fail. The workout on the elliptical felt good at the time, but too much perhaps on the same set of running muscles. Just couldn't loosen up, after a while began to get the sense that I was in danger of pulling something and cut short. Frustrating, as CV is starting to catch up and I otherwise felt good.
