Today was a track workout, I did 100m and 200m sprints for 10 laps, felt good until number 6 that's when things got hard after the workout, I was ready to be done with it but my dad said to quickly run a 400m to see what my time was after the workout, whinning because my feet hurt I ran a 400m  just because and I came across the line at a whopping 1:08 this put a little spirit into my heart and I overall felt good. Cool down of one mile on the astro turf.

Because of the Alpha Timpanoges meet, I just watched the dual meet against Skyline and Olympus.( Stupid thing to do, should have run) I then just ran home with felt good so I was feeling pretty loose for the meet.

Today was just a slow (8:15 mile pace) 4 mile run, I felt good all the way through with no problems.

Today I felt like that I was loosing my work ethic so I went out to kind of beat the crap of that feeling out of me.I ran about 3.00 miles which felt good then onto a trail for about .75 miles. i then came to a hill that was a bout as steep as 4500 South :) and nearly 200m long. I then forced myself to sprint up the hill over six times with an extra 100m kick at the top  of the hill with a one minute break in between, after I ran home averaging about a seven mile pace back home again. I did this because I knew that I could rest Sunday and be able to start the week fresh. So overall, good workout.

Today was a track workout for just the varsity guys(the only male runners who showed up). We started with only three laps warmup then stretching, after we were to run 400m at a starting time of 75s. We then did this four times with each time going down by one second so we ended with 71s( I ended at 69s) we did these speed laps four times for a mile and then did it again for a total of three times with one slow lap in between. I then cooled down two laps then ran home (3.25 miles).

This was also my first day trying out my new shoes, New York Marathoners, they felt great so I hope to work well with these shoes.

I am so sorry for any people out there with friends or family in the Boston Marathon today. It will be remembered by many and I am supporting you.

Well, trying to keep it together here, I did not run the meet in Taylorsville... apparently this meet was for kids that were close to qualifying to state so this week went towards nothing >:0 so I did an easy workout to, "let out my week's anger" Slow run to the Olympus High track for two miles, on the track 100m fast, 100m slow for two miles, then slow run back home for two miles.

Rode my bike from my Jr. High all the way up to Skyline which was 3.2 miles. I warmed up with one lap then proceeded to do two 800m, four 400m, two 200m with three cool down laps. I then ran some more to finish up at six miles. Felt slow even though I was hitting 71, and 70s every time.(Probably the weekend.)

Today was a tri-meet against Skyline, Murray, and Westlake. I was to run the 3200m and the 800m. For the 800m, I felt good taking third for the first lap them I started to move, first lap was a 67 ( I felt like I had wings not legs) then I passed the second place Murray kid, I was closing the gap on the first place Westlake kid in the last 200m but he looked behind and was able to keep my about five feet away from him, we came in about three feet away from each other. Westlake with a  2:14 and me with a 2:15 so a 5 second drop from UVU invitational so that was great. The 300m hurdles were run next then the 3200m so I had 8 minutes to get ready to run again, I ran around about two laps to rid myself of any lactic acid, then I did a few minutes of balistic stretching, 8 minutes later I am on the start still breathing from the 800m.(By the way this was my first time running a 3200m so I was excited) The race starts and my and another person from Skyline break out, we instantly split from the pack and ran a 75 first lap,(good) I held with Skyline kid for two laps then I broke away, I was now running alone in an event I have not run yet so I slowed down (I need to learn to keep my pace) my first mile was a 5:29 (bad) so I tried to speed up, I managed a 77 my next lap by slowed down again, I then won the race (100m ahead of everybody else) with a time of 11:09. Go ahead laugh. This I beleive is an okay time to start with to chip away from to reach a 9:59 so I believe a few weeks of work is ahead (ya). So first place and second and I set a new PR in each event so good day.

I was supposed to do only a four mile easy run to stay loose for Saturday but the Skyline guys and I went and did six miles through the hills above Church Hill junior high so that was a "hill run." I still feel good for Saturday though, knees hurt from biking.

Easy run for the race tomorrow, I am so happy to run I am shooting for a 4:45 in the mile and 2:10 in the 800m so I hope to kit those.

Today the meet was simply "The Best" I was placed seventh in heat two of the mile with 4:58, the race started out really hard with a lot of kids throwing fists and legs at each other so it was a fight the first lap (loved it) coming around a 68. The pack then thinned out with me, two juniors, and two seniors, we were clipping a long at a nice pace with 2:24 at the 800m I then tried to move but the two seniors stepped it up and I could not pass. I did not hear my third lap nut I guess that it was fast. Final lap I made a break with the two seniors, at the 200m I passed one and slowly closed between the senior in first, final hundred and I was coming up fast on the kid but came in a close second with a time of 4:54 PR which qualified my for BYU invite, so I felt like I just won state but know I realize that this is where the real work begins.

A warm up of three laps began the work out, then a junior high track meet showed up so we were forced to clear the track we then mapped out a .25m long loop that resembled a 400m. Our workout proceeded so two 400's 68 and 69 the two 300's 48 and 47 then two 200's at 24 and 25 and two 150's at 21 and 22, I then worked on my kick for 10 minutes then ran home for my cool down.

A nice easy four for the BYU invite.

Race: BYU invitaional (1 Miles) 00:04:49, Place overall: 4
Total Distance

Today (in my opinion) history re-wrote itself. It started with a nice 45 minute drive down from Salt Lake to BYU, I then got there and had a fight with the people who checked bracelets to get in to the stadium but that was resolved, quickly, I then startd to jog around and see who was there and just to look around. I warmed up with about a mile and started to just sit and mentally prepare myself, I thought that the girls heats were going all the way to 10 at a slow pace. I then  by found out that BYU people are very good at moving people along and before I knew it they had called heat 2 boys and I still had not stretched. I did get a little bit of static stretching at the beginning so I then got a bit of balistic stretching so I felt confident in myself. I was ranked number one in my  heat so I felt even better with my self with the best spot on the track.

The first lap was pretty good, just jossling around and seeing what people were going to in the first lap, there was a group of five kids that ran like a 64 there first lap so I thought that I was not going to be able to win this, but as the second lap came around I was able to catch three of them so I gained very confident, I then came around leading the third lap (I dont even know my splits in this meet) but then Garett from East had a wild surge that put him ahead by 5 seconds, I then tried to kick but did not have it in me, I was still making great time and was around 3rd, the final stretch came in and I did the worst thing. I looked behind me and got passed by another kid, this was good though because I need to work on my kick and this showed me to discipline myself to not look behind me. I cam in 4th with a time of 4:49. That is a 5 second drop from Orem Tiger Trials so I am very pleased with my result. Cool down of one mile.

Track work by starting with a mile warm-up, then two 400m with a 100m kick hovering at 83s then three 300m sprints, felt slow on these and I did not get my times. Then two 150m which I still did not get my time, knees hurt badly today but hoping that my shoe change will improve them. I am ready though for regionals this wednesday but feel down because my team said that me and the other kids will not make it to state but I am determined to run  4:39 mile this wednesday and a 2:05 800m. I am determined.

I did a nice slow two mile run with moderate hills, I did this at 6:00 A.M. and knew I was going to be sore for the first 400m but I remain very tight in the knees for the whole run which really questioned me. If my knees keep hurting like this I may just run barefoot for the rest of my life! But anyways, i will do some Bikram today and see if that clears it up.

Tomorrow is region and I am running the 1600 and the 800, 1600 I feel pretty confident in but the 800 i am going to really to have to push in order  to win because if the coach is running them I might be going up against Chuk and Rory from Herriman so that will be quite a race.

I was confident going in this race and felt great, first lap was 71 so good second lap was 2:20 so great, then third lap was 3:42 then final was 4:57, I died on those last two laps and did not do well in my opinion. My legs sort of shut down on me the last two and I did not feel great, the headwind did not help but I am suprised I did a 4:57 with the conditions.

Race: Region 7 (0.5 Miles) 00:02:09, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 3
Total Distance

Today I was determined to win, I was mad about my mile yesterday so I was in a pissed of mood. I was seated in the 800m with a time of 2:20 (but I was ready) the first lap was good, I stuck with the group and cam eon the first lap at 62, (awsome) I then felt a sort of lightness in me and I started to slip by everyone until with 300m to go I had a 10m lead on the second place guy, I then kicked and everyone on my team said that I increased my gap up to 20m, I then finished with a time of 2:09, dangerously close to the seeded guys and their times of 2:06.

My highlight of tonight, I know that he was saving energy for the 2 mile, but I beat Chuk Mitchell from Herriman by one second, I know that he was not giving his all and that he would whoop me in a race but not today, today I beat him by one second.

I have not run that much since region so went out for five miles today, I felt good but my knees kept giving out on me in the last mile. JV Region went not so good, my legs were very sore but I still came in at a 4:57, I thought that I could do well on the 800 but it was two events right after the mile so I went out and did pretty well in second with a 2:09 so not the best day, but a day.

Today I just calmly ran an easy 2miles. When I got to the track, I decided to run one 400 to see what my split was,(I had been running 68's so I was hoping for a 58) I did this 400, barefoot. It started to hurt at the 300m mark and I started to slow down, I finished at 62 so pretty good, I then started to cool down when I got severe pains in my large toe, I made me stop and cringe a little and when I looked on the bottom of my toe, there was a blister the size of a quarter, right in the middle of my foot. And I still had two miles to run. Running with a blister is the worst thing to do and it hurt so bad but after what felt like 5 miles, I made it home and started to Ice it. It really confuses me in what caused the blister but I think that it might have been going barefoot.

Today for the fourth of July I ran my first 15k, 9.6 miles.I was nervous because many people have told me that I should not be running more than a 10k because of how young I am, but I was here, I was signed up, i had a cool t-shirt, and suddenly I found myself on the front of the start line waiting to run with Connor Mantz standing right next to me! Yes, this race was run in Logan UT close to Smithfield, Connors territory, I thought to myself I am fine I just came here to run and lets see what happens. Bang the start on the gun and we all jump into action, like I predicted, Connor shoots out followed by three guys who looked like they just came from the Olympics they went out so I started to pace myself with a group of two kids.

Because it was nine miles it was boring just because of running for so long, still it was a beautiful run in the canyon. Towards the the last three miles, the two kids surged ahead that I was with and got a 400m lead. I did not have enough gas in the tank to catch them, but as I came around the corner, I saw the finish line one mile away and it was all downhill. I then made my move and started to push, I started to pick up speed and continued, I caught one of the kids with the other still 100m away with 400m to go, I sprinted and did a Ben Saarel kick and caught the last kid and created a 20m gap before crossing the finish line at 1:01:25. I did not break one hour shoot. Connor came in 48:12, that is pretty dang fast. This shows that I need to not doubt myself( I do that a ton) and to really work hard because there will always be someone better than you.

Nice dogwood lake run, I became the second person in the history of Skyline Cross Country to swim down and back in Dog Lake and I can see why, it was a disgusting lake. I am surprised I didn't get Giardia the next day, really came fast down the mountain around 4:30 mile pace so for me, really booking it. I felt great but was surprised that me knees did not explode.

I met up with Kyle, Jack, and Jacob for a loosen up run for the week, we started at skyline and meeanderd our way in the pit next to the school, a valley, and then up to the beginning of the Bonneville shoreline trail,(That was a huge lake!!!!) and then back to Wasatch Boulevard down to Skyline for a solid seven miles. Pretty nice.
