Okay I'm not ready for the cold weather yet, but too bad it's here. This morning when I started out it was 29 degrees with the wind blowing 14 mph. I need to get better gloves than my Under Armour cold gear ones. I need running gloves that are going to work in negative degree weather and wind. Does anyone know a brand I could purchase? My hands were really the only thing that was cold just like last year.

Anyway, I ran 9.3 miles at a 7:14 with the dog. I basically just ran all over the city on a flat surface since this is what this next marathon will be like on November 4th. Guys pray for me in this marathon, because I've never ran on this sort of course.

 Lunch:

Again on the treadmill at home 4.4 miles.  Did the last mile at 6:30.  Haven't signed up for the Silicon Valley Marathon yet on November 4th.  I want to see where I'm at with a Marathon Pace sort of long run planned for tomorrow.  I can't do my long run on Saturday, because will be out of town for soccer tournaments.  I want to see how I feel after running so many marathons lately before I make a decision.

Kory,

As far as gloves go I was able to run in the negative temps last year by layering and did ok. My hands are really sensitive to the cold so this should work for you as well. I would wear regular running gloves like your underarmour or just some cotton or wool thin running gloves and then I have a pair of running mittens. There are pretty light weight but they seem to do the trick. On the coldesst days I would wear two pairs of running gloves and then the mittens over the top and my hands survived. Websites below:

I am looking at buying these as they have a removable fleece liner which mine do not and this would be nice for the really cold days.

As far as running the Silicon marathon I would not change to much of your running. Running some hills still will continue to make you strong regardless of the course. Myabe running some flatter marathon pace miles would be good but I think waht you have been doing up to this point has worked well for you and will give you good results regardless of the course. I will provide some thoughts on general training plan later today but I think you should not change things up too much.

29 degrees! NIce job getting out in that!

Cody bought some cotton type gardening gloves (of all things) and loves em. I think he got them at all a dollar or something. White and kind of coarse material, but he has worn the same type for over a year now.

Thanks for the info Bethany. My hands are real sensitive. Last year I couldn't feel my thumb very well for almost two days when I ran in extreme cold and windy weather on one of my training runs, and to this day that thumb is still very sensitive even more so than my other fingers. Thanks for the tip.

Hey, You will do fine. Just make sure you are well recovered. Sounds like fun, is it going to cost a lot for everything?

That's for the vote of confidence Steve that helps. I'll just do the best I can and have nothing to lose.
