Today I run 8.13 miles at a 6:59 pace. I ran on highway 91 and back in town pretty much on a flat course the whole time.

I'm considering doing the Silicon Valley Marathon in San Jose on November 4th, because I will be at a training conference in San Jose till November 2nd (if not canceled), and thought I would stay a couple days extra and run the marathon. This is a completely flat course, so I need to figure out what my training will be until then.

Ran 4.11 miles at home on my lunch hour on the wonderful treadmill watching ESPN, and the analysts saying how the Dallas Cowboys are not an elite team like the Patriots.  Well I have to disagree, because the Cowboys lead in the 3rd quarter and the amount of penalties killed their chance to win.  I'm not saying they would have won, but who knows.  Their still a good team and have a chance to go far.

Kory,

This sounds like a decent plan if you really feel like doing another marathon. Most could not handle so many marathons so close together but you seem to recover very well like Sasha does. Anyway looking at the course and the results the last couple of years you actually have a shot at winning it. It does not look like a super fast course as the first half is a net gain then the second half is a gradual down. If you win you could get a treadmill abd a round trip airfare. I would go into this with the goal of at least doing one thing and that is running a decent first half and then go from there. I think you should go with the lead pack or runner right from the start unless they are going faster than about 1:16-17. Then from there just finish with whatever you have. I think you can be under 2:40 for sure based on your St. George performance and that would have won it the last three years. So go for it. I will post more on training thoughts later.

You are a crazy man! Definetly a marathon maniac. I suspect you will be nominated to be the next president of the "marathon maniacs" with this attitude.

If you are feeling up to it, go for it! As for your training, that is a bit harder. I would go hard this next week and a half then taper a bit over the last week.

Cody: The Marathon Maniac president actually runs one or two marathons. Now that insane, and something I don't want to do. I'm not trying to rack-up the number of marathons I've ran.

I thought since I would be in the area what a great opportunity to run one. I don't have to pay for the trip my work is so why not run the marathon there. I do take marathon's serious, along with what my body can handle. I really don't want to risk getting injuried. This marathon if it happens I will try to push the flat course hard.

Ted: Thanks I'm trying to figure out if I just need to run flat training routes or what for this marathon (again this isn't a sure thing yet the training conference might be canceled if they don't get enough enrollment). Should I run hill repeats since it's a little of a gradual uphill? Here's the map elevation
