November 3, 2012 Just Cuz Half Marathon 1:19:04 second place overall.  (what a difference a year makes)

 


Long-Term Running Goals:

Worship the Lord and praying early in the mornibgs and keep doing that. Staying humble and desperate for the Lord and praying for end-time revival for America.

My Long Term goal is to just run whatever I can.

Hebrews 4:16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Today I did 12.8 miles at a 7:11 pace in 1:32. I ran a course that had a lot of uphill and downhill, more so uphill. I dressed way to warm for this run, because the temperature really increased fast during my run. The effort was good, it was nice running back in the double digit miles which I haven't done all week. Tomorrow probably 4 easy miles with strides at the end.

Haven't really planned out next week, but probably will only do about 20 to 25 miles.

That is too much of a cut. Do 50, and then about 35-40 the last week before Boston. Make sure to slow down the easy runs, and cut the length of the tempos.

Thanks Sasha for your advice, I'm at 41 miles right now for this week so I should be on course for 50. What would you recommend I cut my tempo run? Maybe just two miles next week.

Two weeks out, I'd keep it at 5 miles. With a week to go, down to 3. Right before you leave town, run 2 miles at marathon pace effort pretending you are running the race, but do not look at your watch. In fact, I wonder if you'll do better by pressing the split button on every mile, but not looking at your watch for the first 15 miles of the race. Try not to look at the clocks either, just run by how you feel. Then after that look, set a time goal, and go for it.
