Kory - I was curious how well your body is holding up with the fast paces that you run. I have been thinking lately that I do not push myself as much as I should. I'm afraid that if I run too fast my body would break down. Your marathon PR is a few minutes faster than mine but I don't think that I could sustain sub 7 minute miles every run.

My body seems fine. I've been doing it for a while. Your body gets used to the pace and eventually becomes a normal comfortable pace every run. I still run some 7 minute miles for recovery miles. I think the key is making sure your wearing good shoes that are not wore out. Speed work I've started to incorporate, and hope this will further lower my pace. I would

like to run Boston every mile at 6:30 to 6:40 pace.

When I run 6:40 I don't feel I'm pushing myself it feels like a comfortable pace, but will see if that's true for 26.2 miles (big difference).

Andy:

The difference between you and Kory is that he has a lot more 5 K speed. Therefore, although you have marathon PRs in the same range, your marathon PR is closer to what the non-marathon-endurance factors would limit you to than his. Think of him as a 2:30 marathoner that is out of shape.

This is not to say, Andy, that you could not run 2:30. Kory just does not have to dig as deep to do it at this point. Non-endurance factors are much more difficult to improve than the endurance ones.

Thanks for your comments Sasha. I plan to train consistently to get faster. My short term goal is definitely to be under 3 hours in Boston. I'm running a lot of hill courses to train for Boston, what other ways should I train? I'm going to attempt to keep doing Yasso 800's on one of my training days.
