Personal:

Pride necessarily sprouts and grows; a pride that can only come from relentless kneading of unwilling flesh, painful months of grinding and burning away all that is heavy, all that is strength-sapping and useless to the body as a projectile. --John L. Parker, Jr., runner/author

AM: Awake anyway so out the door at 3:30 am for 8 easy, recovery miles after my highest mileage week in over a month; 70 minutes through midtown and hillcrest neighborhoods on an overcast morning with rain in the forecast.

PM: Had a few minutes before my kids' soccer games at Pinnacle Mountain State Park, so I decided to run the Base Trail, which is a single track, rocky three-mile loop around the base of the mountain. Well, cruising along enjoying the afternoon, I looked up from the trail for a split second, tripped over a rock, and ate it. Hard. Banged up knees, busted Garmin, and very sore wrist. The only silver lining was that I was able to shake it off and hobble back to the soccer fields for the 3 pm start of my daughter's game.

Total: 11.25 Miles.

Yep, that happens sometimes. We're heading into black ice season so it happens about once a week for me it seems. Glad you're OK.
