First speed workout in a long time today. It was three sets of 3x300m at goal indoor mile pace. Felt pretty good for not going very fast in awhile. Hit all my times or faster :)

Cuz of a field trip I may have missed practice, but so did Rachel and she was great enough to do the speed workout with me. What a pal. It was a pretty short workout mostly for an 800m. It was 200, 300, 100 with 45 seconds in between the 200 and 300 and a minute inbetween the 300 and 100. All were at goal 800m race pace, did two sets with 5 min active rest inbetween:)

Freaking hard speed workout today (at least for me haha). Twas a 400m (45 seconds rest I think) then a 600m (a minute rest I think) and then a 200m all at goal indoor mile pace. Two sets with I think it was around 5 min. active rest in between. My legs were more or less done by the end but it felt pretty good.

Super fun run today with Gan, Sami, and Guppy plus about 15 min. of a hill climb bike workout after and of course abs. For the most part seven miles felt pretty good, except for the fact that I should have eaten something before cuz energy was dang hard to find near the end there. My foot is finally starting to feel better and we were running a good pace for the whole thing. Also huge shoutout to Gan and the nice police officer who stopped and made sure she was okay after a little tumble... She was ;) but Gan handled it with mucho grace hah. After the workout we headed on over to Kneaders for some majorly tasty omlettes.Whole morning was extremely satisfying :)

Another good high mileage run today. Legs felt a little tired but other than that it was golden. Tried to not push the pace too much cuz speed tomorrow. Also our group was quite large group today for awhile which was super fun. Still missing Butters... :'( after the run we did the hurdle hip excercises and course abs. Also huge shoutout and HAPPY BDAY to LIL NUG!! (aka Carolyn) who is just the best a such a great teammate and friend :):)

My foot was killing pretty bad after yesterday and my legs needed the break so today I cross trained. Did a bike workout that I can't quite remember and then went to yoga tone with my yoga buddies Gan and Dallin. Possibly it made me more sore but it was super relaxing also. Pretty much fell asleep at the end lol.

Meet today at the Oval. I was really glad it was an indoor meet because the air quality is pretty much the worst ever. #utahprobs Anyway, I raced the mile and the 800. The mile went pretty good and I tied my PR from last season. Felt pretty positive the whole race but should have kicked sooner and harder looking back. HUGE shoutout to Gan for destroying the mile and PRing by 30 SECONDS! Way to be. The 800 on the other hand basically sucked. I just did not feel good. Glad I raced for the experience though. Afterward Sami, Gan, and I enjoyed ourselves at Cafe Rio, and I personally appreciated the delicious horchata. 

Also I have two more shootouts today. One for Connor for dabbing across the finish line (what a kid) and one for Sami for being almost the greatest of the greats.

Happy Presidents Day... Not that it actually means much except no school... But thanx Founing Fathers I really appreciate a day off hah. Morning practice today was some moderate speed. 6x400 at mile pace with a minutes rest inbetween and finished up with 2x100 at finish pace with one minute rest inbetween. Not feeling super great, probably because I haven't exactly been eating so good as of late, but overall the workout wasn't too bad especially with low mileage. Shoutout to Gan and Dallin and all others who braved the terrible two-mile workout... You rock.

Today basically gave me spring fever. The weather was PERFECT and the air was a little clearer which makes my lungs so much happier:) Good, easy, and fun run with Gan and Gups, and for a little while Mario. We went up airport hill so Guppy could stop at her house and get shorts and then basically looped back around to the highschool. Easy pace, but that's okay cuz hill workout tomorrow for meeeee.

Is it weird to miss hill workouts? Hope not cuz I did. Did a wonderful hill workout up beautiful airport hill today. Felt pretty good for not having done a hill workout in months. It was 3x90 second pick ups up the hill a lap rest inbetween and then another set of 3. All at mile to two mile pace (or as fast as you can go up that crazy steep thing) once again beautiful weather and I felt super satisfied with my run overall even though it was pretty lonely finishing up mileage. 

Shoutout to Coach J for doing the workout! She killed it as per usual. 

Also thanks to all those people (some of whom I still need to meet) who commented on my blog recently... I was highly entertained.

Don't you just love those days when easy mileage feels like you ran a marathon? I don't. And that was today. Weather went back to cold today which is a little depressing (although not complaining cuz the skiing should be good this weekend). Went out towards Willowcreek with my pal Rach who is always great to run with, but I have to admit that my heart just wasn't in it today. I'm pretty sure my heart is in Idaho with all the lucky people who are at Simplot. Sigh. Next year watch out Idaho. But huge GREAT JOB to my sista Gan for PRing crazy today in the two-mile and making it to finals! And I haven't heard much but I'm sure the rest of Team She killed too! And of course the boys are crazy awesome and wrecked as well as per usual:) now I think I'll go cry and wish I was at Simplot....

Good but slow 3 mile loop with most the crew, then one more mile with just Sami cuz for once she had more mileage than Guppy and Gan haha. Finished up the last two by myself and they were a little faster. Did some sick "gymnastics" with Sami after and we didn't even injure ourselves lol.

Mother Nature must have been a little irritated with the track team today. Started out nice and sunny for like the first mile and then it basically turned into a full on blizzard. And right when I walked out of the highschool to my car it stopped and was all sunny again. Oh well, at least my eyelashes were only a little frozen... Overall felt really good today. Looped up to Sami's house and then down behind Costco and back along state street. Shoutout to Collin for going us for the second half of our run! He knows where the party's at.

Well Mother Nature must have forgiven the track team bcuz today was the nicest day so far this year. Had a good sized group today that included Gan, Sami, Kaylee (for awhile), Lil Nug, and Rach. Felt really good again today but the pace was a little slower than I would have liked, but that's okay. Did a five mile loop up airport and once again down to state and back. Came back and did a lovely mile on the good old turf which actually felt very wonderful considering I basically hate grass running with a passion. Lifted upper body and did some abs. Shoutout to Coach Rice for fixing Gan's appalling bench press form. She just wouldn't listen to me ;);)

Beautiful mid morning run during third period today (who needs school amiright?) felt super great and kept a solid pace even tho I was all by my lonesome. Weather could not have been more perfect and I was a little bummed when I had to turn around. Later did some super stretchy yoga with Gan which was much needed. Also had like half a huge bag of peanut MnM's so I will probably throw up on my run tomorrow but whatevs it was so worth it.

Well I sure hope awesome week gets more awesome. Dream maker today was kinda disappointing but I think it was from a lack of hills and dream makers lately and also it was pretty dang windy. Got an 11:08 which is 18 seconds slower than last time... What a bummer. Finished low distance after with Guppy and Gan. We figured out most people spirit animals so that was fun.

Ended awesome week with the famous 20x400 workout. First five at 5k pace, second five at two-mile pace, next five at current mile pace, and last five at goal mile or basically as fast as you can make them. I felt good today so I was kinda excited and the first 10 or so flew by. I think I struggled the most on the next set, the current mile pace ones, just to find a good pace and not overdo it. I actually felt wonderful the last five and my last one ended up being about a 71 or 72 which I felt really good about. Gan definitely pushed me the whole time and I was grateful for that.

Back on the blog finally (@Collin) anyhow, glad to get back to longer runs with actual people. Gotta love people... Even though it was pretty chilly today, it was a quality run. Did a mile warmup and then a 6ish mile loop out by Willowcreek. Also I truly enjoyed that cutie horse that let us pet it. I will love anyone who gets me a horse.

Today I just feel like I've been run over by a train. I was also kinda mad I couldn't race so I did eight VERY SLOW miles to cool off, however I regretted it a bit because I was coughing half the time and then after I sat coughing for like 20 min. Had a lovely little (but hecka fast) speed workout today. 3x400, 3x200, and 3x100 all at 800m pace. Can't remember the exact amount of rest but it felt pretty decent. However, my legs are in no way used to going that fast. Somehow I've lost all my speed, but that's okay I'll get it back... Hopefully. Anyhow, 400s were pretty hard but the rest was cake. 100s and 200s were definitely faster than they should have been but it's all good. Kinda glad I wasn't doing the 2 mile workout. Cool down after was a little rough cuz ma legs felt a little like rocks but after a bit they felt lots better and it ended up being a relatively speedy cool down, especially cuz I had to get back for MORP which ended up being a party. Shoutout to Sami and Guppy for staggin' it ;)

I really questioned my sanity this morning when I was at Gan's by 7:00 after being up until 2:00... However it was worth it. Sami and I met at Gan's and we all ran to the AF rec center. Right off the bat I regretted (a) not wearing a headband cuz my ears felt like they were going to fall off, and (b) another thing which Sami and Gan I'm sure know all about... 😒 Anyway, legs felt a bit sore and I was half asleep, but we had a good run and I got to experience some new roads which is always such an adventure. We did some very stretchy yoga at the rec center which was the best and then we went back toGan's where they taught me how to cook an egg INSIDE toast. Crazy. Highly productive morning overall.

Raced at the David Invite today. First of all, the weather was no bueno. I ran the mile first so that was obviously the goal race, but in the end it turned out to not be so good... At all. I guess I was just not in it mentally even though I know I was there physically. So I vowed to redeem myself in the 4x800. I feel like I actually did do decently in the 800 even though I was a little tuckered out. I was the first leg which is my fave so that was good.... In other news, it's #nationalroastwatsonday so that sucks. So ya know, UNshoutout to Sami and Gan. But for realz good job to all the chicas that raced hard today <3

Went to the Salt Lake temple to do baptisms with Gan, Sami, and Guppy (which was the coolest ever), and then we headed up to the Davis meet to watch the boys race. Good high mileage run with Guppy. Legs kinda tired but whateverrrr. We did a weird random loop out by Willowcreekish and then to state street and up to the cemetary and then back to the school.

Had a pretty good speed workout today. 6x400m at mile pace with 2.5 min rest inbetween and then 3x200m all out. Pacing was pretty inconsistent which is never the greatest, but I was feeling good. Those last 200s were extra hard, but I was happy with how I did and hopefully I can turn that into a better kick. Used the patented "Watson Power Push and Glide" method on the 400s which I highly recommend (see me for details). After the workout Gan, Sami, and I finished out mileage out towards the lake. Extra special shoutout to the nice elementary crossing guard who gave us Easter gummy bunnies! Can't say that I ate mine, but it's totally the thought that counts and it definitely brightened my day :)

April Fools. Hah. Anyway it was premeet today. I felt really good overall on the run, but the 400 paces were a little shakey. After finished mileage and did abs of course. I truly have mixed emotions about today's run. First, I was beyond thrilled to be running with the team again and special shout out for coach J for running with us! However, I was roasted particularly hard for a large part of the afternoon because Sami and Gan seem to think it's roast Watson week... Again. However it is soooo their turn so anybody reading this needs to help me out and roast them please and thank you. Anyhow the run itself was pretty good. I was feeling decent and we kept a good pace. Nice to have low mileage because it was feeling a little toasty today. We did a loop out by Wine's park and then through state up to the cemetery and back the old Lehi.

Nice warm weather and a hell, whoops HILL workout todayyyyy ;) 6x1min. pick-ups up airport hill. Felt pretty good today and last couple felt good and hard. Kaylie really pushed me today! After finished up mileage with Guppy. We may have stopped and got "slightly" wet at the creek which felt amazing. Also I'm #grateful that some people decided to waste water and turn on their sprinklers mid afternoon. Wish I could let them know that their wasteful habits weren't so wasteful today. Also shoutout to a certain someone who I ran with today who peed their pants in reverse. Quite the talent. Oh and one more shoutout to Connor for asking if I would date him. Always a pleasure. <3

Utah County Invite today. Not doing a race report cuz I hate them. But yeah the mile just all around sucked. Too soon to relive it, but it was no bueno. Also ran the 800m in the sprint medley which ended up okay for having already race and the conditions and such. The sprinters did pretty good, but we were kinda behind and I felt like I definitely made up a lot of ground. I really wanted to catch the Salem Hills girls but it didn't quite happen. I felt a lot more relaxed on the 800 than the mile too so that was progress I guess. However I'm kind of worried about my mental game lately because it has not been good by any stretch of the imagination, so I'm working on that for next race. After the race Gan and Dallin and I got a ride home with my cool big bro Spence and then we hit up Cafe Rio with Collin and Gups. The horchata tonight was especially wonderful. 

Big shoutout to Zack Ericksen cuz I finally met him! What a nice dude. Check out his blog. Also a reluctant shoutout to Gam for a particularly clever (but way roasty) roast today. She's getting too good... Learned it from me.

Back into the swing of things today with a good ole six miles. Ran with Sami and we hit some solid mile times. I think we were both feeling good. Average was like a 7:45 for me I think, which is decent. We tried out a new loop over in AF which turned out to be kind of "eh" but it's fine cuz we didn't get lost. ALSO I tried long jumping today! It was just for fun but I had tons of fun trying it out! It's way harder than it looks tbh. Ended up with sand everywhere including my teeth somehow... Go figure. Anyway I probably don't have a long jumping future ahead of me but maybe I'll do it every once in awhile;) shoutout to Coach B for being super patient with my less-than-perfect jumping skills... or I guess my nonexistent jumping skills.

Happy Tuesday! I'm trying to make the best of it considering it's my least favorite day of the week... Anyhow had a really good speed workout today. I was feeling really good despite waking up with a little cold :/ it was three sets of four 400s around goal mile pace with 4 min active rest between sets and around 2:45 rest between 400s. Hit basically all my splits and ended strong so I felt good about it. Now if only I can transfer that to a race I'd be golden. I also long jumper at the meet today. Didn't go so hot but it's fine. (Jumper like a 13' 3" or something like that... Didn't help that I scratched on all but one...

David Invite today. Mixed it up a little bit today and ran the two-mile, believe it or not. Also ran the 4x800. Surprisingly, the two-mile wasn't near as terrible as I thought it was going to be and it turned out pretty good I think. I got an 11:59 which I was pretty happy about because my goal was around 12 mins. I felt good up until like the fifth lap when I started getting pretty exhausted, but I picked it up a little at the end and had a decent finish. Shoutout to Kaylee and Sami who both raced an awesome two-mile! Later I ran the first leg of a 4x800, and I didn't get a super great time but I had a way fun time racing in the pouring rain hah. Also shoutout to myself for winning BS two times in a row. Guess you'd better watch out for me cuz apparently I'm good at lying ;)

There's no doubt I've been slacking on the old blog posts cuz ive been insanely busy, but I especially wanted to write about today because it was totally "sogid" (that's soggy plus solid combined just FYI... Credit to Gups on that one). After a rough day of testing I was expecting it would be a struggle to drag my butt across five miles, but when we walked outside from the school it was downpouring! During our warm up I was like "what the hail?!" (Because it started hailing too. Haha I'm hilarious) I'll suffice to say that the old squad and me (minus Sami) had a wonderful premeet and run full of lots of puddle-splashing. I felt decent today, so hopefully tomorrow's race at BYU will be a success. Shoutout to all those who raced today, especially Thom for qualifying for state!!

First day back from break and I'm not totally sure how I feel about it. I think I got super lazy over the break haha. But my first run back was not quite the most wonderful... But that's probably because I ran at 3 in the afternoon and it was 95 degrees. I went out towards the Murdock trail but only ran on it for a bit before I had to turn around. I passed two little girls' lemonade stand and promised I'd come back later and get some lemonade, which I did, and I will just say it was probably the best (strawberry) lemonade I've ever had. Shoutout to them. I also ran in my new Adidas shoes and they were alright but still pretty "new shoe stuff" and could really use some arch supports. I'm hoping they will give my lots of miles this summer. My average pace was like an 8:05ish which I thought was decent for not having ran in two weeks.

FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE!! Well first of all, it was so great to be running with the team again. Saw some fresh new faces and some old ones too. Already I'm missing some of the Lehi kids but I guess we'll see them tomorrow. Started with an easy half mile warmup, did some drills, and then 10 min. of abs with the entire team. Jamie had us just do half of our low mileage today, which for me is only 2.5, but I figured the warmup didn't count;) ran out with tons of girls which was fun and different from the norm. We went on the trail by the railroad by trafalga (I actually seriously am not a fan of that trail but whatevs). I kinda got distracted and went a little over mileage cuz Sami and Gan were interrogating me but all is well. Can't wait until we get to go on some longer run and certain people aren't training for a Ragnar so I have more friends to run with :'(

Today was a great run. Know why? Because it's the first time since track that I've run five miles! I felt pretty good and had guppy and Gan for company the entire time so we cruised and had a pretty solid paced run. Went down to old "Country Road" on a nice out-and-back route. Can't wait to get more miles so we can do a good loop down there. After went back and did an arm workout (I hate pull-ups) and the usual abs and hips and stuff. First practice back with the team... gotta love 'em. We did the "mile and a half jolly good run" today (quote cred to coach) but I didn't full out do it because I'm still somewhat sick and can't breath all that wonderfully. I paced Rachel and Emily most the time and they totally killed it. Shoutout to them. After the girls and I (minus Mario who has unfortunately low mileage) ran up to the Skyridge track and did a lap, which was my first lap on the track there. What a big moment ;) I think I'm going to like that track tho. Then we headed back, picked up Mario, and made our way back down to the old creek. Did some abs and half-hearted hips (sorry not sorry) and then took a wonderful ice bath in the SOLW which is finally back! so yay.

Today I did the mile wu loop and after Jamie had us head up to the grovel and do ten or so minutes of grass running (I did mine barefoot) and after we just finished our mileage. However... the all of our running today (minus the wu) was supposed to be at "easy pace". It'll suffice to say that for me on this day "easy pace" did not feel very much like an easy pace. I'm hoping that it will start to feel easier as I feel better and get some more training in. (Apr. 7:20) After the run did the usual abs and hips and then a short, not-too-hard lower body workout.

Turns out she was already awake and going to work. She needs to straighten up her priorities I think. Late start practice today. very slow wu and then it was tempo. Goal pace was below 6:45 and I only did 2 miles (versus 2.5) because im still trying to recover from being sick. First mile or so was pretty fast and felt okay, but once we hit the hill I slowed a little and never recovered the rest of the run. I wasn't very happy with my performance overall but I guess it could have been worse. After tempo I did three more snail-paced miles to finish. I'm seriously looking forward to tomorrow when I can take it a little easier.

Well I woke up thinking this was going to be a torture run because I was exhausted, seriously unmotivated, and lonely, but it actually turned out to be a great run! I'm at Bear Lake this weekend so it's nice and cool for running which was extra nice too. I warmed up a mile down the road with my madre and sister then they headed back and I kept going for three more miles and then turned around and came back. Saw some pretty things like the lake and stuff AND I saw some not-so-pretty things like a dead deer and a dead skunk. But anyhow, I was pretty negative at first and wasn't even sure if I could do eight miles today but once I started running I felt a lot more positive especially bc it's a recovery day and I can go a little slower. Fun times. Shoutout to my grandma for giving me chocolate milk when I got back.

Early run with Gups, Gan, and Mario. We ran from Gan's over to Timpanogos Highway and up that for a couple miles then into Alpine. Turned around at 3 miles bc Mario has less mileage and came back to Gan's for a water break. Guppy, Gan, and I then finished up our last three miles including one mile on the grass at Skyridge. Felt okay throughout the run, except the last couple miles my legs kinda felt like rocks being tumbled down a hill... After the run we went to Kneaders for some quality food and then to the SOLW for an ice bath.

Today was just such a good run. It was the first time in like three weeks that I've felt decent on a run. Guppy, Gan, and I met at Highland Glen Park and warmed up a mile onto the MCT. We continued on the trail until we hit 4.5 and then turned and headed back. Saw some of the AF girls on the trail and like TONS of old people and bikers. Pace felt surprisingly easy and we ended up with a 7:31 average pace. Last mile was really fast but felt good and I hit about a 7:04. Finally I'm feeling good about our high mileage and easy pace and I think my body is adjusting and almost better so all around this is a super happy day for me :)

First day of BYU xc camp was pretty great! 1.5 mile wu and then our run was a "threshold" run, which apparently is a fast tempo run that is borderline race. I was feeling pretty good except it was a little hotter than I am used to running in, but overall I feel good about the workout. They told us not to overdo it so we would feel good the rest of the week and while I did go hard and do my best, I didn't overdo it and I felt good about it. Megan was with me the whole time and she did awesome too! Afterward we cooled down a couple more miles and then learned some drills and fun(ny) core workouts. A little later we did one more mile on the BYU track to finish up mileage. Also we had Jared Ward (2016 Olympic marathoner) come and talk to us and I thought that was priiiiitty cool :)

Today was fun but also exhausting. In the morning we ran about 2.5 miles on the "Y" trail. Pace was good and didn't trip #win. A few hours later we drove up to Stewart Falls trail and ran that (it was actually the horse trail). Had a few minor bumps in the road on that and my legs were quite done by the end, but it was pretty. Also logged a few "water miles" at 7 peaks later which a lil bit fun.

Last day of camp today and while it's been fun, I'm pretty much beat. Today we had our mini meet thing and while it turned out a little different than I'd thought it would, it was good. My legs were really super tired but once I warmed up they were feeling a little better. The course was supposed to be two loops around the perimeter of Kawanii's Park (I think that's the name), but the leader went the wrong way the first lap so it turned out to only be about 1.65... I'm not gonna complain about that hah. Anyway I trailed Gan for like 95% of the race and we passed tons of people in the second half of the race. Near the end I realized I had a little too much energy so I kicked hard a little later than I should have and passed Gan barely. Overall place was 9 but I think I could have gotten about 7th if I had kicked earlier. Shoutout to my cool team (Course Crashers ;) because while we might not have been considered the speediest, we definitely had the most spirit. I will miss those guys. Did an easy cool down barefoot around the park. The rest of mileage was weirdly split up buuuut that's okay. We did two miles while waiting for Collin around BYU when it was like a million degrees, and then another two later after we got home. Them jumped in a pool and rolled out followed by a delicious dinner thanks to Gan's nice mother.

Lonesome and early 11 miles today. I think I only ran with the team for like 5% of my run because of time constraints. But that's okay bcuz it was not a bad run and it was a new record for me for the longest I've run at one time :) I ran to the MCT and then did the rest of my run on that. My legs were feeling pretty tired/stiff for the first like 4 miles, but after that I was able to pick it up a bit. Miles 8-10 actually felt great and were my fastest ones. After 10 my ankles and feet started hurting a little but it wasn't too bad. Apr. pace was 8:09 I think...

Low mileage today (finally) and also "the kicker" so it pretty much balanced out hah. Mile wu and a few strides and then started off to conquer the beast. First mile was pretty much right on pace with was a surprise tbh. After the hilly part of the run I kinda died and lost kaylee (she is amazing as heck). I think I just lost some motivation after that because I was a little bit alone. I need to work on that finish. Anyhow, I muddled on toward the finish after the hill and basically had a lousy kick, but right in the last 50m or so Gan caught up to me and somehow that gave me a LOT more motivation to move. So shoutout to Gan. Finished with a good PR and a time of 10:07. Goal next time is to stick with Kaylee and break 10 minutes. After we ran over to Skyridge and ran on top of the bowl and said hi to old potato (much love for potato). I also made some major leaps for runner kind by being the first one to roll (oh more appropriately tumble) down the bowl, with Gan being the only one to follow in my legendary path. After that I made my poor jello legs hobble back on down to the crick for an ice bath. Goodtimes.

Low mileage plus the "6-minute test" today. Ran up to the SHS track as our wu for our first real workout on it (holla). I felt like I did a good job on the 6min test but right after I finished it I knew I could have gone a lot harder the whole last lap and started my kick a lot earlier. So frustrating. but I got a mile and like 90m. Goal next time is a mile and 150m. After we did a couple grass laps and headed back down to the creek. did abs and hips.

Mile wu and then 3.5 mile steady state run. Felt really good the first mile and then started to feel it a little the second mile. Stayed on pace the whole time so that's a plus, but I definitely didn't have the best kick at the end. Kaylee did tho so good job to her! Apr. pace was like a 6:45-6:50 i think. I felt good about my effort level and overall it was a good workout. Finished up another 2.5 miles after.

Today I took part in the Temple to Temple 5k down in Provo. Lots of the team was there and it was a good time. Did a mile or so for a warm up and then lined up for like 45 minutes (ugh). The beginning of the race was super crowded and we had to do some major people weaving, but it was kinda fun. Not sure I really pushed myself quite as hard as I should have but it was still okay. Techinally I PR'd but it wasn't a true 5k and of course it was all downhill. Talked to Kate a little (she's awesome) and enjoyed some animal crackers and water at the end. After we ran back up to the old temple. Fun race, solid morning.

Did the "Skyrim" workout today with Butters. It's basically a 600m where you start at the bottom of the bowl, run up and around it, and then back down onto the track and do a 200m. We did seven sets (2min rest inbetween) but apparently we were supposed to do 8... however our splits were all pretty good so I felt good about the workout. Afterward we just finished mileage.

Soooo camp day 1 was awesome... except for one minor incident (but I'll get to that later). We went up to Memory Grove in SLC which has an awesome trail up a lil canyon. I did get a little nervous tho bc that may or may not be the place where Elizabeth Smart was kidnapped. I don't quite remember... Anyhow we just did an out-and-back up the trail. And I do literally mean UP the trail because the whole way out was basically uphill. My group killed it tho so shout out to them. I was feeling good too and was glad that my knee was doin good. The way down was even better hah. However... the minor incident I mentioned occured at about the last mile when I somehow got lost. Don't ask me how cuz i'm not quite up to reliving my mental process at the moment. Suffice to say that it added like a mile and a half to my run, which is not a big deal just super annoying. I also apologize to any people reading this who may have been looking for me. My b. But other than that the day was stellar. Shoutout to my awesome country Jamaica for killing it in the xc olympics. We definitely pulled out the win.

Camp day 2 todayyyy. It was all around super fun and really a classic especially cuz this was my third year doing this run. We went out to Deer Creek and ran along the trail there. I was feelin a little tired starting out but after the first mile it went by really fast. The first 6 miles were supposed to be recovery pace (they ended up being a little faster than that but s'all good) and then the last three miles were supposed to be at "easy pace". I ran with Guppy and Gan for the whole thing and if i do say so myself we killed it. Average pace for our whole run including warm up was an 8:04 which is pretty good for us. Plus i didnt even get lost which is a real win. After the whole team had a pretty fun time playing in the lake. Oh, and we did actually do abs too. Also when we got back to the highschool some of us went to the SOLW to ice bath. I thought it was a good idea at the time but after I wasn't so sure. #thanxmichael

Last day of camp todayyy. After a small fire issue in Corner Canyon plans changed and we went up to Park City to run on the "real deal rail trail". Overall I was not a fan of this trail (talk about boring) but it wasn't too bad. Ran out 5 miles with ma group to the aid station but I didn't even loosen up until like the fourth mile. After we turned around we did the last 4.5 miles of our run as a progression run. Honestly this was a killer workout for me mostly bc I'm kind of a baby when it comes to the mental side of things, but I'm happy to say I put in what I felt like was a really good work effort and it turned out alright. I was especially happy with the last mile or so bc it was more on pace. And shoutout to my group for being so tough and wrecking the workout. After I had quite a good time racing Mario and Gan in a "rolling down a hill and then running to a bench" race. Gan says she won but she's just jealous sooo ;)

Early run this morning with my mileage go-to's Gan and Guppy. Thank goodness it was low recovery cuz my legs are pretty much done from camp. Started at mi casa and then ran what I am going to call "the pumpkin loop" in honor of Mario's grandfather's thousand-pound pumpkin we get the pleasure of running by on this route. Towards the end my legs loosened up a bit and I felt better but it was super nice to go recovery pace today when it wasn't like 100 degrees. :)

Today was our Team Race to kick off xc season for this year. I was a team captain for the grey team and I was quite doubtful of our team yesterday cuz only two girls showed up (including me...) and also I just had that "we are gonna struggle so hard" vibe... but we actually pulled out the win on both the girls and the boys side and I'm so proud of us! Anyway I started my day with a mile wu and then drills and a few strides as a team. I was a little nervous just cuz it's hard to know what to expect at the beginning of the season. Like my body forgot or something haha. Right from the beginning I ran right beside Gan and it stayed that way for most of the race. We had a solid but slightly slow first mile and it felt relatively easy. Second mile was a little bit faster and still felt pretty good. Had a couple of good surges during this mile as well. At the start of the third mile I was startin to feel a little drained but Gan and I still kept a decent pace. However we slowed down quite a bit when we hit the swampy grass which is not quite the best for running. I felt pretty good about my kick once I hit the track for the last 400m or so. Ended up with a 19:47 which is not quite what I wanted. I was hoping for more around a 19:30 but I think it will come. Looking back I could have picked it up a little more at the beginning of the third mile and also could have taken a few seconds off of both the first and second mile. Oh well, it wasn't a complete fail and I'm looking forward to the season. Shoutout to Gan for pushing me. I am definitely not a good solo racer so I super appreciate her.

Cross trained today. I hate swimming but did it anyway bc it was like a million degrees by the time I got around to doing anything. My workout was basically like 45 minutes of me swimming the shallow end of the pool and Aqua-jogging the deep end. It wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be. Probably bc I'm not the best swimmer and I go really slow hah. Oh well. Back at it tomorrow.

Met up with Gan real early this morning at the freedom park on the MCT. I was super sleepy still for like the first mile or so, but it ended up being a really good "medium plus two" miles BUT WAIT come to find out later today it was just supposed to be medium. Oh well I felt good so no problems. We just went out 4.5 and then turned around, passing Watson Manor in the process. The run went by super quick today and I really enjoyed myself. Our average pace was like 8:04 or something like that.

Well this was not a good race for me, mentally or physically. Had a good start but in the first mile I lost Gan and that was not a smart move for me. A little less than half a mile out I started feeling pretty bad for some unknown reason and I like half way threw up right before the last turn which made the last little bit pretty rough. So overall, not the funnest race.

Today's run was definitely a recovery run. Warmed up a mile, then Jamie had us do a couple miles on the grass, and then Guppy, Gan, and I headed out to finish our mileage. It'll suffice to say that it was a VERY toasty run. We went down towards Fox Hollow and then back, stopping at the splash pad so we didn't melt. Legs felt tired but not too bad.

I'm very sad to say that today's run was the last run of summer 2016... However, it was a good one to end on. Woke up EARLY and met up with Gan who is honestly the BEST EVER for always running with me... before the sun even comes out. We started out pretty slow cuz both of our legs were tired and we were half asleep. Started at my house and ran out to 1200 and then over to the road by Sami's. Went all the way down that road and then went left, making a big loop back to the Freedom Park and then by Mario's Grandpa's giant pumpkin (it's crazy huge btw) and then back to 1200. It was a good loop, although I think Gan and I both felt like we'd run everywhere. First half was pretty slow and second half was slightly faster at about 8:00 min pace. Avg pace was 8:16 apr. The weather was perfect tho and I was a super nice long run to finish off the summer :)

Happy first day of school! (haha nawt really) anyhow, today's workout was "the kicker". My mental game was pretty strong going into it cuz I really didn't want to feel like I did after last week's race and I knew that I could do better. warmed up down to the start, then got it done. Going up the (largest) hill I gapped Gan and Kaylee a little and it stayed that way for the rest of the race. Finished with a solid 10:04. Really wish I woulda gone a little harder at the end cuz I really really wanna break 10:00 this season, but I guess I'll get it next time! Surprisingly, the kicker wasn't even the hardest part of today's workout... We had high mileage so after I still had six more miles and it honestly felt like it was 100 degrees outside. The SOTD (squad of the day) and I went one the MCT and ran through the gulley and back. Seriously thought my legs were gonna fall off and my body was gonna melt into a puddle. Thankfully neither of those things occurred. Shoutout to Smith's for having free water bottles. They are the real MVPs. After did abs and hips and ice bathed.

Tri-meet today with Lehi and Westlake (the mom and the bro). Warmed up a mile. Course was only two miles and I was thankful that it wasnt just grass loops. We went out on a trail right by Utah Lake that was uneven and a little rough to run on, but still cool. We were supposed to treat this race more like a fastish tempo run. First mile was apr. 6:34 and second mile was apr. 6:28. I felt good for most the race. My stomach started hurting just a bit at the end but nothing too crazy. Afterward I did a few more miles to cool down. I was supposed to do 9 miles today but by the end of my cooldown I was not feeling good and just decided to listen to my body and call it quits for the day.

High mileage recovery today. After a long debte/argument about where to run, we set off on the MCT towards Smith's. Warmed up almost 2 miles, stretched, and kept on goin. Legs felt pretty rough for the first half. We stopped at the "Freedom Park" and did a mile on the grass, and then ran back. My legs actually felt a lot better towards the end. When we got back to the school we did one more mile on the grass and I got a stupid sticker stuck in my toe... smh. Average pace apr. 8:21. Afterward did abs and hips. Varsity all did their 800s alone bc that is the nature of the grass relays I suppose. I'm not sure exactly what my time was cuz I forgot to stop my watch due to human "hay bales", but it was about 3:05 I believe, so a little fast. Next I did some "relay starts" with the relay team for tomorrow and a couple strides. After finished up mileage and then did some good abs and hips. Headed to the SOLW next for a fun but VERY chilly ice bath. Shoutout to myself for jumping in. 

Also had a quality team dinner tonight. Team captains were announced and some great words were said. #inspired

So this was a pretty big race. 25 teams were there I think. I can honestly say I didn't get nervous at all until I got to the race and even then I wasn't very nervous, so that was good. Warmed up about 1.5ish miles then did drills and waited around for quite awhile bc they were behind schedule. I was doing the second leg (of a 5 person relay) so I went right after Guppy who did the first leg and got me a solid 5th place start. I started out kind of fast but I was feeling good. First lap was pretty smooth and felt really fast, second lap I started dragging a bit, but it still turned out okay and I passed a girl so we were now in fourth. The "gauntlet" the second time around got me, and looking back I should have tried a bit harder on that, but I didn't slow too much the second mile and I felt like I had a good enough race, especially cuz i didn't even trip over any hay bales... #win. Also the rest of our relay team all pulled out some great times and we ended up 5th overall and got a trophy! Shoutout to them for killing it.

Today started off with a wu down to the bottom of that one hill... (don't know what to call it lol) and then we had 2 sets of 3, 90 sec pickups up the hill with a half mile inbetween sets. Legs were feelin a little tired to start off and it felt like it was about 236 degrees outside (give or take) BUT I still felt like it was a good workout. Last pickup was killer. After we finished up to medium mileage including a mile on the grass.

Pre-region today! First, it's so so weird being in a new region with all different schools, but also kinda cool. Race was at Valley Regional Park (I think) which I decided was a fantastic course. Got to the course (after the hottest bus ride of life) and chilled for a bit, watched the rookie race, and then warmed up a mile. Oh, and just FYI, we were mostly doing this as a tempo workout minus like the last mile or so I suppose. First mile felt real easy and quick, came in at a 6:30, second mile we slowed but still on pace at a 6:44, and last mile picked it up with a 6:19. Ended with a 19:51 which I consider to be good considering we weren't going very hard the first and second mile. After cooled down 3 more miles in that sketchy town. #TGFG (thank goodness for gan). When we got back to SHS some of us went and did a really super scary ice bath at the SOLW. Unshoutout to Teapot and Austin for obvious reasons. 

*but also big shoutout to all the boys and especially Parker for asking us girls to #xchoco. Can't wait :)

BYU Invite today! Warmed up a mile then did drills and stuff. Started out pretty fast but still controlled, and hit a 6:11 or so. Second mile was substantially slower (what else is new) with a 6:24, and last mile was a 6:31. Overall not bad splits, but I really think I could have kept it around a 6:20 for the last two miles. Last hill was also rough and I should have pushed it more going up that. In the last 200m I got passed by a couple Davis girls, but I at least caught one so that was good. I felt like overall I had a good race mentally. I stayed pretty positive and had an attainable goal. Also... the race definitely paid off because we got SECOND! Great job to my great team :) after the race cooled down a few miles with some of the girls and Bill! it was so fun to see her and Bridge!

Medium recovery today with Mario. We tried to figure out a good course for our orchestra's 5k fundraiser, but it was a little difficult. Legs felt a little tired for the first couple of miles, but then they felt good for the rest. Appr pace about 8:15 or so. After did abs and hips.

Easy mile wu and then a speed workout on the track, which tbh was super fun bc we haven't done one of those in so so long! It was 1000m at 5k race pace and then a 200m jog, then a 200m sprint, then 3:30 min of rest - six sets of that. My splits for the 1000s were: 3:58, 4:02, 3:58, 3:57, 3:56, my last one was a 3:39 :) All of our times were on pace and my legs felt super good and strong so overall the workout was a big win. Missed my buddies Gan and Guppy tho... hope they had a fun time at USU. After I did about half a mile on the grass to finish up then abs and hips and ya, know... a few pushups ;)

So this was sort of a frustrating race. First (after a mile wu), we had the weirdest start ever. Like, NO ONE was ready and then all of a sudden the gun goes off. Like what even? Also the bib situation was a little rough haha. Also my legs felt so tired from the past few days so I was a little worried about this race. Anyway. First mile was fast due to mucho downhill. It was a 5:49. Second mile dropped WAY down and looking back I was kind of a baby as far as mental game goes. It was like a 6:30. I should have surged on more of those little hills in the middle because after almost every single one there was a downhill to match. Last 0.88 was like a 5:40, but should have been a lot faster because I was a little confused about the course. I thought the last hill was going to be way longer than it was and also a lot farther from the end so I was trying to pace myself but I should have gone a lot faster than I did. Also I thought we had to loop around like the whole field, but we didn't -_-. But I guess it could have gone a lot worse. I ended up 32 which is definitely not what I wanted (I wanted like top 20-25). Not trying to make excuses but I think if my legs had felt a little better and I had known the course I could have done so much better and got a lot better place. Also team got 6th I think which was pretty disappointing, but I know everyone was a little tired to start out with. (got in a little bit of "anger mileage" as well) We'll get em next time tho. Afterward did about 5 more miles with Gan and a few of the boys which was fun.

First day of "Awesome Week" today, and I'm super duper excited to say that so far it's be pretty awesome! Today we did whistle hills. Warmed up about a mile to "Wahoo Hill" (name cred to Guppy) where we did three sets of 15,20,25 seconds with our rest just being the jog back. Overall it was definitely one of our easier workouts, but it's still great and I tried to push myself. I felt really strong too so that was a win. After we finished up low mileage and did abs and hips.

 Today we ran "the kicker" for day two of AWESOME week. Mile down to the start to warm up. Before I wasn't exactly super motivated, but shoutout to  Matt for getting me in the right spirit haha. Started out not too crazy fast - a good pace. Felt really good until like halfway up the hill (no duh it's a hill) but I did a little surge and didn't get too off pace. I lost focus for a little bit after the hill and I think that took a few seconds off. I tried to catch Dylan and Squirrel and did... for awhile. But in the end Dylan out-kicked me and I'm not really sure if Squirrel did too. Oh well, it was still a PR for me (by about 11 seconds) and was especially exciting because I finally broke 10 minutes and came in at a 9:54. Shoutout to Mario and Kaylee because I think they both PRd and they rocked it. After we just finished up mileage and did abs and hips (and pigeon pose) and then we hit the SOLW. It was cold.

Day four of awesome week and still going... barely. Jk I was actually feelin decent today. We did four mile repeats on the grass for our workout and let me just say that I do NOT enjoy mile repeats. Nevertheless, I wasn't upset with my times. I think my times were 6:13, 6:15, 6:13, and 6:04. With five minutes rest inbetween. So solid, but I died. After did a half mile cool down and abs and such. Shoutout to da girls for furthering "the vision" today with their hard work. Love 'em.

Last day of awesome week today (crying rn). Seriously I love awesome week tho. Wu and then we did the legendary hill ladder workout up airport 3x100,200,300,400,500. The first set was hard just cuz I think my legs hadn't woken up yet, but I actually felt lots better on the second and third set. I felt really strong the last 500m which was surprising haha. Honestly the workout was not as bad as the last time I did it, but it was still pretty hard. Overall awesome week was a huge success and I'm proud of what I did. Hopefully I can bring it into my race next weekend.

Finally got to the Bob Firman course after a longish bus ride. Did a mile wu and then ran the course, which is like the best ever, IMHO. Soooo, fun day at Bob Firman today. It was also basically perfect racing conditions so that was a win. Got there and chilled for a little bc my race (elite varsity girls) wasn't for a litte bit. Then warmed up a mile and did drills. Got to the start line and had to wait forever cuz technical issues, but we had a pretty great dance party while we waited. Race started, and I got stuck in a pretty bad position, I think because of our box placement, so the first part was a little rough. After like 3/4 of a mile I finally got in a better position tho so it was fine. First mile was a little fast at a 5:57, but second mile of course slowed down a lot... I really need to work on that haha. One of my goals for this race was to stick with these two davis girls and for the last couple miles I was tailing them. Got to the hill second time around and almost died (well not really) but I tried really hard to pick it up after I got to the top. I felt like I had a good kick this time and I ended up passing the davis girls (not exactly sure when) and then towards the end I also passed a girl from AF and one from Pineview. Finished with a good course PR (40 seconds) and a normal PR (about 8 seconds) as well, if you can count that sort of thing in xc. Looking back I probably could've kept the pace the second mile and then got harder the last mile, but overall I'm proud of this race. Also the rest of the team did awesome as well and we ended up 7th right behind Pineview, who we are gonna for sure get next time. After did a two mile cool down.

More speed today. Mile wu and then we did 200,400,800,1600,800,400,200. The 200s and 400s were at mile pace. 60 sec rest after the 200 and 90 sec after the 400. The 800s and 1600 were at 5k pace. 2:30 rest after the 800s and 3:30 after the mile. Hit 40, 82, 3:00, 6:05, 3:00, 78, and 32 (i think). Overall it was an okay workout. My legs were not feeling the whole "let's go fast" thing today so I struggled on the ones at the end that were mile pace. However all were slightly below pace so i'm not gonna say it was bad. After did a grass barefoot mile and then the two-mile loop. Legs and feet felt wrecked. Abs and hips after.

Early run this morning. Met up with Gan and Gups at the MCT and went out three and then back. Then we drove to Kneaders and met up with good ole Mario and Sami for three more miles. It was so fun to talk to Sami; she's the best, hit up her blog. Overall, a super good run. Legs felt a little tired from yesterday, but not too bad. Also saw the coolest sunrise ever #earlyrunperks

After the run we met up with a bunch of the team at Kneaders for our long-awaited french-toast-eating competition. Even tho the girls didn't quite pull out the win, we gave it a good shot (except for Guppy smh) and it was pretty delicious up until the 5th one lol. Shoutout to Gan for being a beast and eating SIX french toasts for our team.

Today's weather was just the best. Finally feels like fall complete with awesome cross country weather. We did a shortish speed workout today. 10x400m - first 5 at 5k pace with 1 min rest inbetween, next 3 at 2 mile pace with 2 min rest, and last two at mile pace with 3 min rest inbetween those. Splits were overall way good. About 91s for the ones at 5k, and about 86-87 for 2 mile ones (i think?) and mile was a lot faster... last one ended up being a 69 haha. Legs felt way good during the workout, best they've felt in a long time actually. After finished up about 3 and a half miles and did abs and hips.

So Region. Got to the park, chilled for a bit, and then warmed up a mile and did drills and stuff. Started off and right from the beginning it was quick. First mile was definitely too fast, at a 5:57 or something like that. I wish I could say I kept that pace up for the rest of the race, but I did not... Next couple miles were significantly slower. Anyway, did not have the best kick unfortunately, but finished with an 18:47 which isn't too terrible. I tried but for some reason I couldn't get my mental game together for this one. I feel like if I had been more positive I could have had a lot better of a race. Hopefully for state I can be a lot more positive and push myself more than I did. But I'm super super proud of my team because even with my less-than-wonderful performance they all pulled it together and we are going to state :) 

Special shoutout to Guppy for taking second (she is absolutely ridiculous) and shoutout to Mario for an INSANE PR.

Met up with some of the girls at my old alma mater Lehi High School for a morning run. It was literally perfect weather and it was so fun to be back down in old Lehi running. Skyridge may have a lot of nice things, but it definitely can't match Lehi as far as running territory goes. We went out down the old Willowcreek road and back. Legs feeling surprisingly good and avg. pace was about 8:00.

I was a little worried it would feel real hard bc we havent done an easy pace run in awhile, but it ended up not being bad at all except for a stupid side cramp I had. We did the "double-dip" loop. I learned from it tho so hopefully I can have a much better race at NXR coming up in about a month. I'm way proud of my team tho. They did so much better than me haha. (we took 4th btw)

Ran by myself today, but it turned out to still be a super good run. Started at Highland Glen park and then ran on the MCT out 2.5 and back. It was such a pretty run because of all the fall leaves and stuff. Before I started the outer side of my lower left leg was hurting a bit, but for the most part it didn't bother me on my run. Held a good pace for being by myself (apr. 8:00).

Ran up towards Suncrest into Alpine a bit. Gan showed me a cool new trail. Only down was that I think I pulled a muscle in my calf on Saturday and it started hurting pretty bad the last couple miles. Good run tho.

Back in action with speed today. Mile wu and then workout was 5x1000m - two at goal 5K pace, and then two where we did the first 200m faster and then the last 100m faster, and then the last 1000m was supposed to be faster the last 300m - after the 1000s we had 3x400m - start at current mile pace and get two seconds faster each time. 3 min rest inbetween the 1000s and 2 min rest for the 400s. Overall it was a really good workout for me. Little tough to get going, but once I did I felt really good for the most part (I kinda just ignored my calf). Was under 3:50 on all of the 1000s and my 400 splits were 82, 80, and the last one was kinda crazy at a 72 haha. Afterward Gan and I basically limped another mile and a half and then we all did abs, hips, and a few pushups.

Prefootlocker at AF today. Had a good first mile and felt pretty strong, second mile was good until the end, and third mile was bad at first but then I had an okay-not-great kick. Not my best but coulda been worse.... Mile splits were 6:17, 6:25, and 6:27.

Once upon a time I set off for a high mileage recovery adventure with my courageous band of outlaws. However, after awhile all but my faithful servant Ganicus had been picked off by the king's whipping (puppy) dogs. Ganicus and I bravely continued on... going over the river, through the woods, and probably trepassing through someone's grandmother's house. We encountered a fiercesome serpent, but a charging beast quickly got the better of it and gave poor Ganicus quite a fright. In the end we made it back to our hideout on the ridge safely, sustaining few injuries and fit to answer the call of adventure again when needed in the future... This adventure's pace was about 8:25 and included 15 min of abs and hips when we got back to the hideout.

Mile wu then speed today. WO was ladders on the track: 2-4-8-16-8-4-2, 200s at 800m pace, 400s at mile pace, 800s at 2-mile pace, and 1600 at goal 5k. Splits were 37, 78, 2:52, 6:07, 2:54, 76, and 30. Although my knee was hurting a little during the warmup, it ended up being a really good workout, mentally and physically. I'm really hoping to take this workout into NXR next week. After I cooled down only 3 bc of my knee, and then biked for just a little bit. Also did abs and hips of course. 

*shoutout to all my cool team mates and friends who have committed to running in college -- so cool.

High recovery today except i only did 8 cuz technically we could choose between medium and high and my knee was buggin a bit so i just decided to go inbetween. Shake out run in page AZ on the way to NXR. Ran on some random sandy trail (actually I'm not entirely sure it WAS a trail). Also some large birds got unfortunately close to some people's heads. Half mile wu and then today was the annual "turkey" workout! That means 6x500m, first 400m of each one at 5k pace and then the last 100m was a race to catch the person who was secretly assigned to be the "turkey"; if you passed them they apparently had to do an extra minute of abs but idek if anyone actually did that haha. Was a good workout although my legs were feelin pretty tired. Finished up to medium mileage on the MCT going West. After did abs.

Low mileage recovery today. Apparently yesterday was supposed to be low too but we were told different. Met up with Gan and Mario at the park by freedom and did an out-and-back on the trail. Felt tired, but okay.
