I realized something yesterday:  I use running as a way to break up the stress of being a working mother.  Yesterday my SIL took the kids after school to work on a project, and so when I got home I had nothing to do till 8.  You would think that would be my opportunity to run, but instead I sat on the couch and watched 2 episodes of Pregnant in Heels.  I've never watched that before.  I can't imagine being as helpless/needy/useless as the pregnant moms on that show. 

Then finally I got off the couch and decided to play around with the Wii Fit again.  I don't think I get a good workout, but I did sweat a little.  Then, since I had wasted my running time, I just didn't run, and I didn't really care.

Not sure where I'm going with running now.  I'll probably feel more into it next week, I'm guessing.

I think there's a fine line between running to break up stress and being stressed by your commitment to running.

And I have to say that being a working mother is one of the hardest things to be. I may pit the SAH moms against the working moms with this comment, but I've done both, and being a working mom is way harder.

Don't stress it if you don't feel more into it next week.

I also think there is something to be said about post race blues. I didn't want to run for about 3 weeks after my race. I think I"m almost back in the wanting to groove.

I think you're both right. The past few years as I have been running longer distances, I have felt stressed by running about 3 weeks before a race and then I have loathed it. This year I haven't been so much into it, so my entire preparation for this 1/2 was haphazard and half-hearted anyway. And though I do not need the recovery after this race, probably half of my blah is what I've been feeling all winter/spring. The other half is that it's almost that time of the month. You know how that goes.

And Carolyn, I agree. I think any mom has a tough job, but I find my life is so much easier in the summer when I am not working.
