This week's plan isn't a good one.  Because I have an appointment on Wednesday, I decided to take that day off, which means that I had to do 2 days of active recovery after Sunday's hard run. I was a little bit sore/tired during and after this run, but now I get a day of rest.   This run was avg. 10 min pace.

On Thursday I'm going to try to head back outside and run 5 or 6 miles and then Friday run very lightly.  I'm afraid that if I take Friday off completely that I'll start out too fast on Saturday.

I have no idea what to expect on Saturday and I'm a little nervous, but in a good way.  I have a feeling that deciding to run with someone could either be good, or could severely get in the way of how I'd like to run.  I don't think I'll abandon my partner during the race, but I hope he's ready!  He told me that he wasn't sure if he could run as fast as I want to, but he also said that he will not fall behind.  We'll see!

What do you have planned for Saturday? I don't remember you talking about this before. Or maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention.

I always worry if I've committed to run with someone in a race that they'll be either too fast or too slow for me. The last time I did this was last Thanksgiving Day. I thought the person I was running with would be too fast, but she turned out to be too slow, and I left her after a mile and a half.

I'm running the Champaign/Urbana 1/2 marathon. I probably haven't mentioned it specifically or really even alluded to it, except for under my short term running goals.

I'm running with a former student and runner. I won't in good conscience be able to make him eat my dust, but since I used to be his coach I have some ability to make him keep up. My stated goal is to beat 2:07, but my secret goal is to run under 9:00 pace. My supersecret goal is to run about 8:30-8:40 pace. I just am a little scared/worried that I can't. (not for the first 2, those I know I can do).

But reading your last race report was inspirational to me. I'm going to try to be competitive on Sat.

I have no doubt that you can run it at 8:30-8:40 pace. You'll do a great job. I'm looking forward to your race report.

I would love to come back there and run in Champaign/Urbana some times. It's just not in the cards right now.
