Weekly Review:
This week will sound a lot like last week. I had a really good running week but didn't get as much core work and cross training in as I would have liked. Things just get so busy and I am pretty limited with my time sometimes. I got 1 swim and bike in this week and I was hoping for at least 2 of each. My running stamina is coming back and I actually feel stronger and better than I did before my injury. My form is improving and I think that is making me more efficient and faster. I'm not trying to run fast, I just find myself at a 7:50 pace and feeling really comfortable when I am on a flat area.
The knee is holding up. Today, after my 10 mile run yesterday it is pretty tight and sore but I expected it to be a little off today. I have been working on rolling and stretching. I am realizing some of this stems from the IT band. Pushing on the side of the knee causes some pain so I know that I need to work it out. When I run there is still mild pain with the tendon but this has not changed for a few weeks now even with the increased mileage.
The goal this week is to get to 30 miles. Once I hit the 30 mile mark I am going to maintain that for the next little while and just let the body continue to get stronger and work on my form. There is no need to run more than that until I am ready to train for my next marathon in November. I will get into a better routine for my cross training as well.
So thankful I am able to run and participate in endurance sports!
