Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 18, and 19.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

10.2 Miles. Legacy Trail to Colonia and back. 6:00 am start time. 1:27:52. 8:37 pace. 70 degrees, 100% hum. 68 d.p. Yes, it was a struggle. Spouse hinted that she got me some very expensive running shoes for Christmas last night. I need to hit the stores after church, or else Christmas morning will be awkwardly lopsided. After 19 Chirstmases with this woman, how do I still mess this up?

There was a bobcat on the sidewalk in the first 100 yards. That flipped me out. "Christmas Bob"cat? No. His name was "Sandy Claws." Yeah, that will work.

AM: 5.5 miles. Hood Route. 43:17. 7:52 pace. 6:30 am start. 63 deg. 82% hum. 57 d.p.

PM: At track. 2:00 pm start. 77 deg. 61% hum. 63 d.p. My last few trips to the track have been really depressing. (The goal was 2 up, 3 repeat miles in @ 6:15. 1 down.)

2 up. 1 lap in 1:18. I was really upset that after all of this time, I still have no control of my pace out of the gate. I was ready to throw the entire workout (like I usually do), but I regrouped, and decided to give it another shot. 1 mile in 6:05. 4 minutes rest. 1 mile in 6:10. 4 minutes rest. 1 mile in 6:11. I ran out of time, and could not run a cool down mile.

I'm glad I followed through on the workout. But I have to wonder why I psyche myself out at the track, and I'm relaxed before a 5k or 10k? Shouldn't it bethe other way around?

5.5 miles. Hood Route. 42:35. 7:45ace. 4:45 pm start. 77 deg. 69% hum. 66 d.p. Rough start, but then I settled into a Nice and easy groove. I'm trying not to mess up tomorrow's longer run today. Plus, my legs are still a little trashed from yesterday's track stuff.

17 to go. Your move, Derunzo.
