Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 18, and 19.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

I did the form drills (buttkicks, etc.) while I warmed up. 86 Degrees. 70% humidity. dew point - 75. Total Time on track: 48 minutes. I must be running my recoveries / warm-ups faster or something, because this is @ 20 minutes less than when i started doing these.

4.6 Miles. Ringling Bridge. 37:14. 8:05 pace. 5:40 pm start. 79 deg. 89% hum. 75 D.P. Heavy downpour. No lightning, though. The slower pace is not because of the weather. My legs are pretty beat up from yesterday's track stuff. I should be fine tomorrow.

6.2 miles, untimed. 10:30 am start. 86 deg. 62% hum. 72 d.p. Venetian Waterway Park. Well, Boy #1 (Age 8) is determined to run a 5k with me this fall. So, I told him to prove it. I mapped out 3.1 miles, and we headed out. He was skipping, hopping, jumping on to light pole bases/benches, going on to the grass, jumping up to smack tree banches, etc. I kept telling him to just run, but he wasn't having it. He was falling apart by mile #2, but to his credit, he finished. Spouse and Boy #2 (age 6) were waiting for us at the finish. Boy #2 said he wanted to run back with me. That went bad. I told spouse he was done @ 1.5 miles in. Then i finished the run as fast as i could. I feel like I needed a weekend off from trying to just get miles. I'll get back to the grind next week.
