Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 17, and 18.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

There is a lot to cover today, so let's get to it:

5:45am: 5.5 miles. Hood Route. light rain.

6 pm: Celery mound. 1.5 up. (10) x 0.1 hill sprints, jog down. 1.5 down. Light rain until Rep #4, then downpour until Rep #8, Then light rain for the cool down, then rain stopped altogether back at my car. It was awesome. Watching the rain roll in from on top of my mini-mountain was really cool.  No running tomorrow. Going for 16.25 Saturday again.

Then I went home and had a great dinner with the family. (Once again, I am so happy I no longer have the night job.) Then this happened:

Jackfruit is the sweetest naturally occurring food I have ever eaten. It tastes like Juicy Fruit Gum. The texture is bizzare, as well. A bit stringy, a bit custard-y, a bit slimy. It is almost TOO sweet. So we made some into smoothies, and that was easier to handle. I have, like, 10 pounds of Jack Fruit now. This was a really neat experience.

Whoa!! That looks weird. Now I'll be on the lookout for Jackfruit to cross it off my bucket list.

Hopefully the rain is at least cool down there. I picture it being about the same temp as the air for some reason.

Hope the job is going good! That had to have been a good move for everyone.

I'm with Matt. I did not expect it to look like that, and probably wouldn't have thought to eat it but now I want some. I love Juicy Fruit!

I wonder if the flavor lasts longer than Juicy Fruit's.

In those first couple of pictures it looks more animal than plant (definitely not mineral). Your boys look like they are back from a trophy hunt. Smoothies definitely the way to go.

I looked at the photo link. It it animal or is it vegetable?

From Derunzo on Fri, Jul 17, 2015 at 09:09:37 from 173.9.52.242

Did you wash the Jack fruit from your face drapes?

From Tom K on Fri, Jul 17, 2015 at 16:24:18 from 174.58.54.215

Derunzo, that is a Perry the Platypus party tablecloth.

Smoothies turned into pudding by morning in the fridge. Great pudding.

I forgot to mention that they could not cut the grass at celery mound because of all of the rain. So my warm up / cool down levee run was in near knee deep grass. Fun times.
