5 days to go! Did an easy 5 in the early morning. Felt OK but it still seems like the pace I think I'm running and what my garmin actually tells me is off by 15-20 seconds (and not in the favorable way). So not sure quite what to expect for Saturday. I'll do a 3-mile MP run tomorrow on the same route I did the identical workout the week of BCM, maybe that will shed some light on how ready I am.

Later went to the gym for 30 min XT + core.

Did a repeat of the pre-BCM workout I did 3 weeks ago. Two mile warmup, 3 miles @ MP then 1 mile jog back home. Felt OK but I always wish the pace felt easier than it always does a few days before the race.

Faster miles (compared to 3 weeks ago) were 7:05 (7:00), 7:12 (7:09), 7:05 (7:00). So just a few seconds slower than last time at what I think was similar effort. Not sure if it means anything. Not much left to do but take it easy until Saturday and see how it goes! Current weather forecast looks super-duper!

I'd normally do an easy 4-mile run today but I'm feeling a little twingy pain in my right hamstring so decided to bag the run and do 30 min XT at the gym instead. Might just be phantom pains but I figure I'm best off playing it safe as I attempt to race SGM 3 weeks after racing BCM.  I'll probably go for a walk later as well and hope that's enough to keep the pre-race anxieties and taper madness at bay and hope for some good nights sleep the next 2 or 3 nights..

I always have known that racing back-to-back marathons rarely turns out well. But I couldn't resist the perfect running weather and had to at least give another personal best a shot. But after just a few miles it was obvious that wasn't going to work as I could feel every ache & pain from 3 weeks ago flaring up. So decided to wait for Kim to catch up to me and try and keep up with her. She did awesome for 20 miles and was on track for a 3:35-3:40 finish when the runners knee flared up and shut her right down. Decided to play it safe and live to run another day and walked the last 3 miles. But still had a great time!
