Did 8-miles of up/down the hills of SF with Kim. Probably the last time doing this route before the race.  All easy stuff from here on out (at least for Kim, I reserve the right to not do much taper and maybe a MP mile here and there since I'm not racing SGM).

Hadn't planned on going to the gym today but got frustrated with work stuff so decided to go and try and sweat it out. Did 10 min eliptical, 10 min stairs and 5 min bike.

So does taper mean less miles and slowere miles or just less miles?

Probably depends on who you ask Terry. Seems like every running book I have has a different opinion on taper.

Personally I think you could do it either way. Cut the miles but maintain intensity or not cut the miles as much but do everything easy.

I do think it's good to at least do a mile or 2 at MP a few days before and maybe a few strides a day or 2 before just so the legs are fresh and don't forget about fast running.

Thanks for checking in on me Tom, sounds like you and Kim are doing well and should be ready for SGM. Good luck to both of you.

I've been thinking about the Taper and what seems to work best for me is to decrease the miles by 20-40% but keep the intensity the same. However, as usual there is always an exception. If you're feeling worn down you decrease the intensity until you are feeling refreshed and ready to go.

Yeah Terry I tend to agree with you. If I taper too much I start going mentally bonkers and can't sleep which can cause a chain reaction often leading to a really lousy race.
