This was a good run. I started out thinking I would take it pretty easy, but lately I haven't really been able to take it easy. I did feel really good at the beginning and decided to start out at a pace that felt good, and not to look at my watch until a mile. So when i got to Wasatch, I looked at my watch and it was at 6:50! That was a lot faster than i thought and half of it was steep uphill. So the next mile I didn't really push and ran a 6:42. I then had some downhill which helped me run a 6:06 next mile. The first three were painful because of some icy rain in my face. (which stopped shortly after the third mile) So the next mile I pushed it a little more and got a 6:29. On the fifth mile I thought I should slow down a little so I wouldn't kill myself before I made my way back. I backed off a little and ran a 6:44. I stopped and stretched for a minute, felt good, and decided to start out strong. My next mile was a 6:08 and mainly flat. The next two were 6:20 and 6:36. The eighth was up a very steep hill and tired me out quite a bit. So, going into the ninth I thought I should pick it up but realized I was at a 6:40 pace a half mile in. So I pushed it a little harder and finished at a 6:14. I stopped at the top of Wasatch right at the start of the tenth mile and decided to give it all I had. So, I powered down the hill for a half mile, and kicked in the last half mile flat in 4:59. |
