SCARY SCARY SCARY run! My heart was beating out of my chest!!!

Miles 1-2 with Smo: Small Sunrise Loop. Just enjoying my time with my girl!

Miles 3-6 by my lonesome. Sun was just coming up. I had just passed my turn around point a little past George Washington Charter School. Headed south on 3000 East towards home. Suddenly I see a coyote walk out of the foliage. We were less than 50 feet away from each other on the same side of the road. He (or she) sees me at about the same time I see him. We both stop dead in our tracks and don't move. I can see a truck coming up the road. I think to myself (in a matter of milliseconds) that if I didn't move that the noise of the truck would scare the coyote away. (Side note: at this time I didn't know it was a coyote. From the limited experience I have had with animals of the wild I assumed that it was a wolf, don't ask me why.) Unfortunately the truck stopped about 100 yards before approaching us. I saw a man just sitting in the driver's seat. I thought perhaps he saw the wolf/coyote and was contemplating what to do. When he didn't immediately get out I started very slowly waving my arms at him to indicate that I needed help. Neither the man nor the coyote moved. I took a deep breath and began to cross the street and then slowly proceeded towards the truck. The coyote did not move. In a matter of seconds (which seemed like forever) I arrived at the truck. The man states, "Were you being attacked by bees?" I said, "NO! There's a wolf right there!!!!!!" He stated, "I saw you swerving your arms all over and I thought you were being attacked by bees!" By this time I am safe behind the man's truck. The man then proceeds to tell me that it is a coyote and not a wolf. My heart was still beating far too fast but a sense of relief flooded over me. I proceeded to finish my run home. By the time I got to my door my fear of the coyote was transferred to anger at the man! My thoughts, "What??? He thought I was being attacked by bees and he just sat in his truck watching!!!" Seriously, what is that all about?

Anyway ... that was my run this morning!
