20 miles -- AP 8:07

** Didn't know if I would get a chance to squeeze in a long run tomorrow, so I decided to get it done this evening. Wasn't able to leave until a little after 4:00 p.m. Temps were absolutely perfect, albeit a little windy (nothing too bad).

Managed to hold marathon pace for 16 miles before self-destructing. By that time I felt done. Come mile 18 I forced myself to run some hills. Ran up Puke Hill, down Home Stretch Hill and then back up it. Hoping that hitting those hills at the end of the run will help me mentally and physically prepare for the hills in Boston. Here's to hoping! :)

Hope everyone has a FANTASTIC weekend! :)

Very impressive run. Running hills after hitting the wall will make the Newton hills seem easy.

SSF!!! WOW!!! AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME 20 miler w/ 16 at marathon pace, puke hill and uphill at the end! All that at 4pm at the end of a tough tough busy busy week. You're AMAZING! I know I've said it before...but I'll say it again...Newton Hills have nothing on ya. You're gonna kill it! EXCELLENT long run! Hope you're getting some needed and well deserved sleep tonight! I LOVE YOU! Can't wait to see you tomorrow morning!

All I have to say is WOW!

You're not supposed to burn yourself out before the marathon kid! Ease up and run easy with a little marathon pace, not 16 miles worth...of course you are faster than me so why am I giving you advice. :-)

From Teena Marie on Sat, Mar 13, 2010 at 20:15:54 from 174.52.45.85

Andy -- I looked pretty pathetic running the hills though. No gas left in the tank. :)

Smooth -- Yes, I was tired. BUT it was such a HUGE stress reliever after this very stressful week. I was actually surprised how quickly time passed. For the most part I really enjoyed myself. :) Btw, thank you for coming today! It meant a lot to Sophia. :) You are the BEST!!!!! :) :) :)

Kel -- THANKS!!! I have to admit to stopping at 7 and 14 for gu though! Oh well ... I still think it was my best long run to date. :)

Rhett -- Thanks!!! Still can't get over how fast you ran your 30 miler!!!!

Jeff -- I was going to just run by feel but then when my first handful of miles came in at marathon pace the competitor in me wanted to see how long I could hold it. Secretly I was hoping to make it the full 20 but come mile 16 I was 100% done! I am not planning on holding that pace in Boston, but hopefully by SGM I will be able to. :)

Well, the, congrats on THE BEST long run!! This is your season, and you are so busy all of the time that it is all the more amazing that you are pulling off such awesome running!

Red Mango anyone?

From artichoke on Sun, Mar 14, 2010 at 15:52:36 from 71.37.120.226

Great run! At that pace you better lower that 3:30 marathon goal by 10-15 minutes at least!

From Teena Marie on Sun, Mar 14, 2010 at 17:10:33 from 174.52.45.85

Kel -- I absolutely am in the mood for some Red Mango!!!! I have had it 4 times since we all went! Well, actually, twice of those times were at a place called Spoon Me in St. George -- DECLICIOUS!!!!!

Artichoke -- Thanks! BUT ... there is no way I would be able to even keep that pace for the whole 26.2 miles. The long run was both encouraging and discouraging: Encouraging because it is the best long run I have ever had; Discouraging because I had to push extremely hard and knew that running another 10 miles at that pace would be impossible. SO --- not sure how to make heads or tails of it! :)

You are such a diehard. Can I have some of your energy?

From Lyman on Mon, Mar 15, 2010 at 04:01:14 from 95.225.19.149

Nice strong run. That looks very close to your race pace.

From vinh on Mon, Mar 15, 2010 at 07:39:19 from 75.77.22.187

20 miles at 8:07 pace? I see a sub 3:30 for you Teena. I think you can pull off a time in the low 3:20's.

From timp on Mon, Mar 15, 2010 at 11:01:07 from 144.189.100.25

sounds like an excellent run, Teena. Nice job!

From Kelli on Mon, Mar 15, 2010 at 13:53:18 from 71.219.89.82

YUCK! I do not like Spoon Me, just Red Mango!

From Kathie on Mon, Mar 15, 2010 at 21:58:40 from 63.248.105.188

20 miles on such a busy day, now that is what I call dedication!
