In my freshmen year, I lettered in both track and cross country. I also got the Rookie of the Year Award in cross country, and the Freshmen of the Year Award in track. At regions for XC I was 7th. At state I was 65th. In track at regions I placed 3rd in the mile and 2nd in the 2 mile. At state I was 17th in the mile and 13th in the 2 mile.

Sophomore year I was a cross country captain and I lettered again. I was 3rd at regions and 12th at state. At track regions I was 3rd in the mile and the 2 mile. I also anchored the winning medley relay team.

Junior year I got a stress fracture about a month before the cross country season started, but made a great comeback with a 2nd place finish at regions.  At state I placed 6th, and I broke 19 minutes for the second time in my racing history.  Team captain again. In track I shattered my old PRs and was doing well until I got a stress reaction.  After 3 weeks off I built my strength back up and performed well at state, earning 4th in the 1600 and 5th in the 3200.  After that, I was invited to the Great Southwest Track Meet in Albuquerque, where I took 5th.

My senior year in cross country I was a captain again, this time with Amanda and Natalie.  This season I was injury free so I got to run competitively at invites.  At state I took 3rd.  At Footlocker Western Regionals I outkicked a girl on the track to finish 10th, which qualified me for nationals the next weekend.  I beat both of the girls who had beat me at state in that race.  At nationals I took 22nd and beat 6 of the girls who had beat me at regionals.  Going into the outdoor season the first Invitational I attended was the Davis Super Meet where I qualified for state in the 1600 and the 3200, and I broke the meet record for the 3200 in an 11:01.29, the previous record was an 11:17.  I had a strong finish to my senior season and finally claimed a state title.  I ran the fastest 1600 and 3200 at state for any division, claiming the double crown in those events, and earning the athlete of the year award :)

Now in college, I run for the University of Utah.  I lettered my freshman season of cross country, and made it to regionals in the 5k in track.

Sophomore year I improved in cross country.  In track I raced the 1500, 5k, 800, 10k, and the mile of the DMR before repeating the 5k at conference and then the 10k at regionals.  Placed 28th behind a lot of seniors... so nationals next year!!

This morning I took Ellie for a run. We started by the Capitol and ran up City Creek and 11th Avenue. When we got to Virginia Street we turned and went down to South Temple. We took that down to State Street and the headed back to the Capitol. Then I sprinted up the hill with the stroller. Just kidding. I finished in Memory Grove with 6 miles. I was thinking that the switchbacks would make it easy to get back up to my car, but I forgot about the stairs. A nice lady stopped to help me carry the stroller up the big flight of stairs, it was very kind of her.

A little while later, I helped Patrick with the Girls on the Run team that he helps coach. Today was their practice 5k and one of the girls needed a mentor, so I got to go run with her.

Today I started my run at Sugarhouse Park. I ran up to 1700e and south to 2700s, and then up. I went up to Parleys trail, intending to run up and over the freeway and to the park from the other side, but there were signs that said the trail was closed and it looked like there was some construction going on. So I turned at 3.5 and started to head back to the park. I wasn't too disappointed to not be pushing the stroller up that hill. Back at the park I entered on the side where the freeway is and then when I got to 1300e cut into the park to do a lap on the road so I could finish with 8 total for the day.

This morning I took Ellie in the stroller for a run starting at Liberty Park. I started by the northwest corner and headed south. I exited the park and ran on 500e almost to 3900s, turning around when I reached 4. On the way back, I had to stop a few times in the last 2 miles because Ellie was so done in the stroller. But eventually I got to the park and got her out so she was happy! One of her socks was missing, but I guess that is unavoidable sometimes.

Sock update: After I finished what I needed to on campus, I decided I would drive home along 500e just to see if I might find that missing sock. I actually found it! It was a little past 1700s. Call me crazy, but I had to at least look one time.

This morning I took Ellie in the stroller at Jordan river trail. Just did 3 out and back since I had to be done in time for a meeting with my advisor for my grad program. I start classes next week!

Too rainy and cold for the stroller today, but I was able to get a sitter to listen to my baby monitor while Ellie napped so I could run. I did 6 miles in the neighborhood. Ellie slept the whole time, plus long enough for me to shower and mop my floors!

This morning my mom tended Ellie while Jesse and I went running since rain was on the forecast. It wasn't raining when we started so I decided to leave the rain coat home. We ran along 1300e to the U, then Jesse turned around and I kept going. I ran up Virginia Street to 11th Avenue, which I took all the way to B Street. I turned there and then cut down one of the streets which took me to the switch backs into Memory Grove. By this point I was wishing I'd worn the rain coat. I got drenched coming up South Temple so I was a little cold when I got back to 13th. The route ended up being a little over 9 so I walked the last few blocks. One of my favorite things about finishing a Saturday morning run is not having to run again until Monday. 😊
