In my freshmen year, I lettered in both track and cross country. I also got the Rookie of the Year Award in cross country, and the Freshmen of the Year Award in track. At regions for XC I was 7th. At state I was 65th. In track at regions I placed 3rd in the mile and 2nd in the 2 mile. At state I was 17th in the mile and 13th in the 2 mile.
Sophomore year I was a cross country captain and I lettered again. I was 3rd at regions and 12th at state. At track regions I was 3rd in the mile and the 2 mile. I also anchored the winning medley relay team.
Junior year I got a stress fracture about a month before the cross country season started, but made a great comeback with a 2nd place finish at regions. At state I placed 6th, and I broke 19 minutes for the second time in my racing history. Team captain again. In track I shattered my old PRs and was doing well until I got a stress reaction. After 3 weeks off I built my strength back up and performed well at state, earning 4th in the 1600 and 5th in the 3200. After that, I was invited to the Great Southwest Track Meet in Albuquerque, where I took 5th.
My senior year in cross country I was a captain again, this time with Amanda and Natalie. This season I was injury free so I got to run competitively at invites. At state I took 3rd. At Footlocker Western Regionals I outkicked a girl on the track to finish 10th, which qualified me for nationals the next weekend. I beat both of the girls who had beat me at state in that race. At nationals I took 22nd and beat 6 of the girls who had beat me at regionals. Going into the outdoor season the first Invitational I attended was the Davis Super Meet where I qualified for state in the 1600 and the 3200, and I broke the meet record for the 3200 in an 11:01.29, the previous record was an 11:17. I had a strong finish to my senior season and finally claimed a state title. I ran the fastest 1600 and 3200 at state for any division, claiming the double crown in those events, and earning the athlete of the year award :) Now in college, I run for the University of Utah. I lettered my freshman season of cross country, and made it to regionals in the 5k in track. Sophomore year I improved in cross country. In track I raced the 1500, 5k, 800, 10k, and the mile of the DMR before repeating the 5k at conference and then the 10k at regionals. Placed 28th behind a lot of seniors... so nationals next year!!

| | I had a test in one of my classes this afternoon so I enjoyed a nice run after. Running after taking a test is seriously one of my favorite things because it helps me take my mind off the questions and not be so anxious to get my score back. I did the same route as Monday but cut across Guardsman instead of 13th so that I could stop by the track at East for some strides. Planning on my first workout tomorrow! |

| | Threshold at the oval today! I warmed up 5 laps and then did drills and strides. I couldn't remember the order of the drills my team does for warm-up, I'm sure it'll come back to me eventually... Before getting started on the workout, I did some 200s at what I felt should be threshold. 44 and 46... quicker than I expected, so I eased up a little for the 800s. I hit 3:10, 3:11, 3:10. 40 second recovery back to the start for each. 5 laps cool down and stretching afterwards. |

| | Beautiful day today so Jesse and I went running up City Creek :) I pushed the stroller from the ranger station to where it started to get really steep, then Jesse caught up to me and I ran just a little more to get the last .25 I needed before turning around. |

| | I did my second threshold workout up on the track today. I warmed up a mile and a half and then did the routine drills and strides on the track. I did two 200s before starting on 1200s. My times were 4:50, 4:49, & 4:51. 1 minute recovery in between. I finished with another 2 200s and then cooled down 2 miles. |

| | This evening after class I went for a run from the library while Jesse tended Ellie in the family reading rooom. It is a really neat place. I ran up to 11th Avenue and then down past the firestation to the next street, where I turned and ran down by the cemetery to South Temple. At 1300e I turned and ran to 800s, and then up to Guardsman. I saw Bill leaving the track as I ran by. I finished with 6 just before getting back to the library.

| | This afternoon Jesse and I went running at Sugarhouse Park. We did 2 laps around the perimeter. I pushed the stroller for the first lap, and Jesse pushed the stroller for the second lap. Afterwards I did some core. I've been hesitant to get back into core because I am not sure how healed my abs are and there still is a space (a lot smaller than it used to be) between my rectus abdomini, but I want to be careful to not widen it.

| | This morning I joined my team at the track for workout :) I ran the warmup with Sarah (I kept up!) and then did the usualy strides and drills with the team. My workout was 200s and 300s, half of what the long distance group was doing although mine was for turnover... and my pace was what last year I would have been trying to hit. My recovery was equal distance jog. My times were 40, 60, 39, 61, 39, 61, 40, 62. The last 50 meters on the last 300 I could start to feel tired in my legs, so I just did the 4 sets. I cooled down 2 miles to finish with 6.5 for the day.

| | We're in Moab for a short spring break trip! This morning I ran from the hotel around some of the residential streets of Moab. Being in Moab reminds me of being in Hawaii because it seems that a lot of the economy depends on tourism.

| | Took Ellie for a run in the bob for the first time! Jesse and I went running on the Jordan River trail. I pushed Ellie for about the first mile and a half, then Jesse had doubled back to run with me and was ready to turn around so he took the stroller. I ran out 5 miles in 39 minutes and took a few moments to stretch before heading back. The last half mile was hard, but I finished! I realize this makes of 25% of my weekly mileage, so that was difficult. Total time was 1:17. While I was running I was thinking about how I used to do 10 mile runs every day for a while and they weren't so difficult! I'll get there soon. :)

| | I'm a little bummed that now I have a jogging stroller it is too cold to take Ellie in it, but I look forward to the warmer weather to come! Today I ran from my parents house up to Wasatch and over to the trail just past the drinking fountain and back. |

| | Fast workout on the track this morning to determine if I would race Friday. I warmed up 2 miles and then did the usual strides and drills. The workout Kep gave me was two sets of 400, 400, 400, 300 with 3 minutes, 2 minutes, 1 minute, and 5 minutes rest. I could definitely feel why it was a good workout for 2015006 prep! My goal pace was 78 (my old 5k pace... that'll take some work and several more weeks training!). I did a 200 first and hit 39. On the first set I hit 80, 79, 79, 58. On the second set I hit 80, 79, 81, 60. By the last 400 and the last 300 I was exhausted. I cooled down 2 more miles to get 8 for the day. I decided no race Friday and that it will be more worth my time to keep working out. :) |

| | Got a quarter mile running to the locker room from the parking garage because Nikki told everyone to wait for me so I could run with the team! :) it was me, Nikki, Jessica, and Shaylen :) we ran Trax! The short route, so we cut down Memory Grove. Nikki and I were both sore so we fell behind Jessica and Shaylen on the hills up to 11th Avenue, but caught up with them in Memory Grove and ran the rest of the way together. 7:41 average pace :) |

| | Today I did a threshold workout at Liberty. I warmed up 2 miles and then did strides and drills. I did 3 sets of 5 minutes with 1 minute recovery. I originally intended to do 4 sets, but last night's dinner wasn't sitting well so I called it. I cooled down to finish with 7 total. |

| | Workout on the track this morning. This time I wanted something that would be good for 3k prep. I warmed up 2 miles and then did the routine strides and drills. I did a 200 first to get a feel for pace, and then started the workout. It was 4 sets of 2x500, with 90 seconds rest the first time and 10 seconds less each time, with 4 minutes between sets. Kep said to try and hit 82-83 for the 400 split. My times were 1:45 for the first set, 1:44 for the second set, 1:42 and 1:44 for the third set, and 1:42 and 1:45 for the last set. The wind was awful on the second 100 of each rep, but having that resistance helped me focus on trying to keep a pace rather than maintain the effort because I really had to focus on not slowing down into the wind. Cooled down 2 miles to get to 8 total for the day.
