In my freshmen year, I lettered in both track and cross country. I also got the Rookie of the Year Award in cross country, and the Freshmen of the Year Award in track. At regions for XC I was 7th. At state I was 65th. In track at regions I placed 3rd in the mile and 2nd in the 2 mile. At state I was 17th in the mile and 13th in the 2 mile.
Sophomore year I was a cross country captain and I lettered again. I was 3rd at regions and 12th at state. At track regions I was 3rd in the mile and the 2 mile. I also anchored the winning medley relay team.
Junior year I got a stress fracture about a month before the cross country season started, but made a great comeback with a 2nd place finish at regions. At state I placed 6th, and I broke 19 minutes for the second time in my racing history. Team captain again. In track I shattered my old PRs and was doing well until I got a stress reaction. After 3 weeks off I built my strength back up and performed well at state, earning 4th in the 1600 and 5th in the 3200. After that, I was invited to the Great Southwest Track Meet in Albuquerque, where I took 5th.
My senior year in cross country I was a captain again, this time with Amanda and Natalie. This season I was injury free so I got to run competitively at invites. At state I took 3rd. At Footlocker Western Regionals I outkicked a girl on the track to finish 10th, which qualified me for nationals the next weekend. I beat both of the girls who had beat me at state in that race. At nationals I took 22nd and beat 6 of the girls who had beat me at regionals. Going into the outdoor season the first Invitational I attended was the Davis Super Meet where I qualified for state in the 1600 and the 3200, and I broke the meet record for the 3200 in an 11:01.29, the previous record was an 11:17. I had a strong finish to my senior season and finally claimed a state title. I ran the fastest 1600 and 3200 at state for any division, claiming the double crown in those events, and earning the athlete of the year award :) Now in college, I run for the University of Utah. I lettered my freshman season of cross country, and made it to regionals in the 5k in track. Sophomore year I improved in cross country. In track I raced the 1500, 5k, 800, 10k, and the mile of the DMR before repeating the 5k at conference and then the 10k at regionals. Placed 28th behind a lot of seniors... so nationals next year!!

| | This morning I ran 6 miles at Drycreek. It was tempting to skip the big hill by turning at the bottom of it, but I didn't! Got my second lift of the week done afterwards. |

This morning I ran up through campus and then through the Avenues and up by Shriner's to get to 11th Avenue. I ran until I hit 3 miles, which was just past the fire station, and then back the same way. The drinking fountain at Shriner's is gone! But the one on 11th is satisfactory. I took a 15 minute ice bath afterwards. |

| | Ran up 500s and then up Sunnyside above the zoo, then on Wasatch to 1300s, down to 1300e and home. Glad it was chilly this morning so I didn't have to get up so early to run! |

| | Another chilly morning meant more sleep! :) I went to Cottonwood and warmed up on the road and then stretched and did strides before doing hills. I ran Bessie 8 times, all the way up to the fence. It was about a quarter mile, then I jogged back down. I didn't time them, but I glanced at my watch to check the pace, they were in the 5:40 mile pace and felt comfortably hard. Cooled down to finish at 8 and then took a 15 minute ice bath at home. |

| | This morning I ran down 1300e to Sugarhouse, did 2 grass laps, and ran back home to finish at 9. I had finally overcome my fear of dogs and the need to swing wide every time I pass some, but today two dogs jumped at me and it scared me pretty bad... They didn't bite me this time though! But I would have known what to do if they had... Afterwards I went and got my first lift done. |

| | Lucky me, I called this morning and was able to get an appointment this afternoon with Dr. Testa! Coolest doctor ever!!! He described my condition as inflammation in the tensor fascia latae, and a bit of piriformis and gluteus medius. He gave me a lot of hip flexor strengthening exercises and some stretches, and the ok to run! But advised to stay off of pavement and concrete. | Add Comment |
| | No run today, but a lot of hiking in Moab :) | Add Comment |
| | Rafting in Moab this morning, I am going to count that as a second lifting type workout this week! When I got back to Salt Lake I ran 5 miles on the grass at Sunnyside Park. |

| | Today Hilary texted me just in time to join me for my run! We went to Sugarhouse and ran 2 outer laps and 2 inner laps on the grass to get to 7 miles total. Afterwards we decided to go to campus and get our first lift of the week done... Mine went ok, but Hilary took a chunk out of her shin doing a single leg box squat... I paused my worked to walk down to the training room and have Trevor clean it up. Her skin that had been scraped off was still to be found on the box later... |

| | 6 miles at Sugarhouse. Afterwards I went to campus so Tim could work on my hip flexor and then to get ice. It hurt a lot after the massage, I might not do another one of those... |
