Tonight I ran a hill workout on the treadmill. 7:00 pace, level 9, random hills, 4.5 miles. The farthest I have gotten in the past without having to take a break was 3 miles. This time I made it 4 miles. So I almost made it! Just had to stop one time. But it really challenged me. I was feeling light headed for quite awhile afterward. Hopefully I didn't kill any of my already scarce brain cells.

After running a race last week and then taking it easy on Saturday, I'm ready for a new training cycle. I'll start ramping up the mileage gradually. I'm hoping to do either a spring marathon or maybe something longer. Have to see.

Oh yeah, I also decided I'm going to work toward the 2000 mile mark for this year. I'm lacking 196 miles. So I will try to run that many in December.

6 miles on the treadmill. 4.5 of it was tempo run. Overall hit the 5 mile mark at 33:13, I think a record for me on the treadmill. The overall time was about 40:30. Calves were sore, but I felt good.

Sorta similar workout as yesterday. Except I didn't push as hard on the pace. But I did run at a 1% incline. I think I will do that more often. Hit the 5 mile mark at 35:12 and the full run was 42:30. Felt really, really good tonight for some reason.

There's a small mountain that separates Salt Lake County from Utah County. It's the one you have to go around at the "point of the mountain." When we go visit my brother-in-law in Highland, we drive over the top of the mountain on Traverse Pass. I've wanted to run over it for a long time.

Well, this morning we in Highland. It was a cold and windy morning, but I was determined to run over Traverse Pass to our house. So my wife was kind enough to drop me off on the highway at the bottom of the hill, and I made it all the way home.

This was a tough run. I ran into a gnarly head wind the entire way. And it was cold. I had to pull my head and neck warmers over my face at times because of the wind and cold. It seems like it's always the most windy at the steepest parts, too. I started at around 4900 ft, and the top of the mountain was 6100 ft.

I feel really good about this run. It was a very tough run. And my average pace was 8:27, which I am very happy about. Despite the adverse conditions, it was actually a very enjoyable experience. I liked the thrill of pushing myself and succeeding at it.

It was a good week for running. Total was 43 miles, which was the goal.
