I was going to do a long run so I could get past 40 miles for the week, but the day was hectic, and I wasn't able to do that. I decided to do a 15K time trial (on the treadmill) instead. I started around 10:45 PM, so I was tired beforehand. But it turned out really well. I was able to push the pace repeatedly. My base pace was 7:30 per mile, and I pushed it for 0.25, 0.5, and one time 1.0 mile stretches at 6:30-6:45 pace. I felt stronger and faster than I have so far this year for that long of a distance. I could have kept going, but it was midnight, so I stopped. My average pace over the 66:45 minutes and 15K (9.3 miles) was 7:10 per mile. I'm happy with that. That is just slightly slower than the pace I ran for my 5K time trial 5-6 weeks ago (though this was on a treadmill so there's not a direct comparison). I'm feeling more confident in being able to run a fast time in the half marathon in three weeks. Didn't increase my mileage over last week, but I feel great about how the week went. I think I lost a tiny bit of weight, too.
