I ran about 6 miles at 7:30-8:00 pace plus warmup and cooldown. It took me just under an hour. This is 1/2 mile farther than last Monday and 1 mile farther than two Mondays ago. So I'm getting my mileage up there in preparation for the half marathon.

I didn't really want to get up and run, but now I'm glad I did.

I did a tempo run on the treadmill. The first mile was warmup. The second mile was at 7:30 pace. The next 3.5 miles were at 7:00 pace. The next mile was at 6:30 pace. The last mile was cooldown. It was hard but not incredibly hard. It feels like slowly I am getting stronger.

I did a hill workout on the treadmill at level 7 at 8:00 pace.

First I did a flat 0.5 miles. Then I ran 5.5 miles of hills. Then 0.5 miles cooldown.

This is the longest hill distance I have done so far. When it got steep, I struggled, but I think I did better than I have before this year. So I'm getting better.

I knew it would be hard to run tonight, so I got up early and ran, even though I had finished running seven hours earlier last night. I did 3.5 miles on the elliptical, which gave me a good cardio workout and exercised legs and arms. Then did 3 miles on the treadmill. The overall average was 8:00 pace.

I was telling my wife that I feel like I'm finally starting to see noticeable benefits from almost 3 months of consistent training. It feels good. Can't stop now once the ball has started rolling...

Day off from running, but I went skiing for four hours tonight. It was fun and a decent little workout for the muscles.

I was going to do a long run so I could get past 40 miles for the week, but the day was hectic, and I wasn't able to do that. I decided to do a 15K time trial (on the treadmill) instead. I started around 10:45 PM, so I was tired beforehand. But it turned out really well. I was able to push the pace repeatedly. My base pace was 7:30 per mile, and I pushed it for 0.25, 0.5, and one time 1.0 mile stretches at 6:30-6:45 pace. I felt stronger and faster than I have so far this year for that long of a distance. I could have kept going, but it was midnight, so I stopped.

My average pace over the 66:45 minutes and 15K (9.3 miles) was 7:10 per mile. I'm happy with that. That is just slightly slower than the pace I ran for my 5K time trial 5-6 weeks ago (though this was on a treadmill so there's not a direct comparison).

I'm feeling more confident in being able to run a fast time in the half marathon in three weeks.

Didn't increase my mileage over last week, but I feel great about how the week went. I think I lost a tiny bit of weight, too.
