I hiked up to Lake Blanche this morning with a brother, two sisters, a teenage niece and a nephew. The nephew that I usually run with was suppose to come up with us too, but he cancelled at 6am. He does that sometimes. He missed out because it was BEAUTIFUL! It is 3 miles up. 6 roundtrip. I haven't been on this trail since last year. After we got to the top I had to head back down. I had a busy day ahead of me and I couldn't stay and go over to Lake Lillian and hang out and chat with my family like I wanted to. I started to run down the trail and my left knee was killing me. I tried to walk fast, slow, run, everything was hurting my knee. I had planned on running from the trailhead home. When I got to the bottom of the trail, my knee was hurting so bad that I didn't know how I was going to run the 8 miles home! I thought I should probably not run on it and just wait for my fam to get down the trail.....but I didn't. I had to get home. My in-laws were having a bbq at noon for my birthday and my daughters bday this week. I started running and it was hurting. I kept hoping that my family would not stay up there for too long and they would pick me up on the way back to my house to pick up their cars. My hub stopped to pick me up about 1.5 miles before I was home. He was headed to his moms. I have never been so happy to cut a training run short. I usually can't stand to not finish what I have planned on running. I am a bit smarter now that I used to be. I would have ran hard on a hurting knee before. I am really hoping I didn't damage anything that will make me have to stay off of my knee for a bit. I only have two months to get in shape for St. George! |
