8 miles on the elliptical :(

I am going in for an MRI on my knee on Monday.  I ended up seeing my orthopedic doc this week because my sister fell trail running and has to have knee surgery.  As soon as the doc saw me in his office he started laughing and asked how many miles I was running even though I am not suppose to be running.  I said....NONE!   If I run, I am in pretty bad pain and can't do much for a week or so later, even turning over in bed hurts my knee.  He looked concerned, so I asked if that was not normal for 8 months after microfracture.  He said that after 6 months, I should be able to run without pain although he wouldn't recommend it.  He said that we need an MRI and depending on what it showed he will probably have to go back in and take a look.  I got home and called my hub and started to cry.  I really don't want to go through this again!!!  Even the elliptical and bike hurt my knee.  I will probably be in pain for the next couple of days from doing 8 on the elliptical.  I did 13.1 on New Years and have been paying for it all week.  I just can't stand to see everyone running half marathons on FB and not be able to join in on the fun. :(

I have been doing so many projects on my house and have turned into a clean freak.  I have to have some outlet and nothing makes me feel good like running.  I am getting ready to paint my laundry room today, then I am taking my two girls to the Justin Bieber concert tonight.  It should be a fun girls night out with my two cuties!

Ugh, hope he does not have to "take a look" again. Sorry to hear that.

Justin Bieber, ooooh! He is so dreamy!

Um, Joe. You might want not want to say that out loud in OK.

You have been through a lot with your knee this year. Let me know what they find out. Really sad that you see what everyone is doing on fb and you aren't able to do it right now. I know how that feels to a certain point. It's not fun.

I'm a clean freak too. Always have been :)

Oh Amy cute girl! I am SO SORRY to hear that you are still having pain with your knee. I hope the MRI has good result and you don't have to go thru all that you went thru last year again! I will keep my fingers and toes cross for you that the ortho dr. don't need to do anything invasive!

When I had my stress fracture, I turned into a clean freak too. My husband LOVED it! :)

ALL girls have Bieber fever!!! Have fun with your sweet girls. You're an awesome mom!!! :)

Bieber may just be the trick. Seriously though, i hope this new year brings glad tidings to you and your knee. Happy New Year.

Please let us know what the MRI says. Thinking about you!!!

Oh stink, stink, stinky poo. I really, really, really wish that dumb knee would just start to behave - one way or another. On another note, if you're house is all decorated and cleaned up, I'd be happy to have you over here and chat at you while you get your energies out! I certainly need some decorating and cleaning done here :)

I ran 2 miles on the treadmill this morning before the MRI just so that it would be hurting when I went it.  The MRI showed that the micro-fracture has failed.  I am sad beyond words.  I go in next week to meet with my orthopedic surgeon.  He is suppose to be the best around.  Tiger Woods even had him operate on him.  It didn't do me any good.  Surgery again. :(

From RAD on Tue, Mar 19, 2013 at 14:08:52 from 76.27.82.202

Okay...so how is life treating you now a few months later?!? knee pain?!? no pain?!? successful surgery?!? I need an update :) As I head to Boston this year you are in my thoughts!!!

From flatlander on Mon, Apr 29, 2013 at 09:07:57 from 198.207.244.102

Was thinking about your situation this Boston time of year. Any prospects for running at this point? I totally sympathize. I have a doctor right now who is advising me not to try to run competitively any more; back issues in my case. I am doing it anyway -- fat and slow after doing nothing for 3 months, but at least running. But nonetheless waiting for the other shoe to fall. Best of luck, and keep us updated.
