I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to post on my phone. We are on our way home. I keep feeling like I am going to cry! I am pretty sure I have another stress fracture in my right foot. It is just about the same place as the one I got when I got into St. George 4 years ago!

I have a hot lump on the top of my foot that hurts to touch and when I put pressure on it.... Yeeooow! It sends sharp shooting and tingling pain down to my toes. It hurts on and off when I am walking. I biked the 13 today and it hurt to bike. I already paid 500 for my double night stay in St. George. I signed up with my nephew and Sis-in-law. :( I don' t know how I am going to tell them and how I am going to wear a boot for 6 weeks again! I will never be able to run St. George! I am so sad! My hub on the other hand seems like he his holding back extreme joy. :( :(. :(!!!

I am SO sorry! What a bummer!! I hope it turns out to be nothing serious.

From rAtTLeTrAp on Wed, Aug 17, 2011 at 23:08:30 from 72.102.217.39

OH NO! I'll be praying it's something besides that. I felt the same way when I hurt my calf right before Boston, and again when I hurt my knee in a car accident a month later(still before Boston). Things can still work out. Ice, elevate, and see a doc before you give up.

From I Just Run on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 00:04:42 from 71.41.149.142

Sorry Steam...I understand your disappointment. I really wanted to run qualify for Boston but one thing after another keeps getting in the way! Let's pray that both our injuries miraculously heal within the next couple of weeks!

Proverbs 16:23-25

23 The hearts of the wise make their mouths prudent, and their lips promote instruction. 24 Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. 25 There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.

I know the verse is not talking directly about healing your foot ... but I though you would like it anyway :-)

From SlowJoe on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 10:32:15 from 132.3.53.68

Let's hope it's not a sfx. Injuries really suck! Let us know if/when you fins out anything.

Oh, and I'm sure your husband is not holding back extreme joy about your injury!

From JG on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 10:50:12 from 71.92.34.153

Hang in there & try to keep your spirits up, and try to get to see the doc about it! Will keep you in my prayers!

From jsh on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 10:56:21 from 63.253.43.114

I agree with what's been said. Don't get too down on yourself before you see a doctor. Injuries suck though when they prevent you from doing what you love. It doesn't help much with the stress either!

From Steam8 on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 11:08:38 from 166.70.55.77

Thanks Carina!

Rattletrap- did you still run Boston after all of that? I will ice and elevate. But, I am tired of seeing doctors. I am starting to feel like a crazy hypochondriac since I have been so much over the past few months. I am falling apart!

I Just Run - I'll be praying for us both! As always, thanks for the scriptures! I think I will be reading a bit more from the scriptures to fill up my running time. I'm sending you one of my favorites! It is not from the Bible and you are probably a Southern Baptist and don't even want to hear it, but it is one that I think about all of the time and always helps me when I am wondering...why?

Ether 12:27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me then will I make weak things become strong unto them.

From Steam8 on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 11:16:51 from 166.70.55.77

Slow Joe - My hub is in the best mood. He keeps saying he is sorry as he is dancing around the house. I keep telling him that if he was married to a large Marge couch potato, he might just wish that I would exercise. He just thinks I am a bit excessive. But that is just how I do things...always excess. I think everyone on the blog is pretty much the same. We all have to be a bit crazy to exercise like we do!

JSH - I guess I better call to get in. I just don't like the doctors' approach of just stay off of it and blah, blah, blah. You can start back up slowly like running a mile every other day after 6 to 8 weeks. They have no idea how hard it is to stay away from running. Most injuries will get better if you just stop for a while. I just don't want to stop. :(

JG - THANKS! I am really trying to keep my chin up in between my crying spells. My hub just couldn't be happier. Maybe he has been praying that I would just get injured again! ha!

From Steam8 on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 11:23:42 from 166.70.55.77

I think I just did too much last week. I did 3, 6 mile hikes, ran 7.5 in between the hikes as fast as I could and then at the end of the week ran 18.5 with my nephew and that is when I noticed my foot started hurting was around mile 10. I think all of the hiking and running down the trails with lots of rocks must have been too much on my feet. :( :( :( I thought it would help me get in better shape during this last push to get miles up since I had 6 weeks before St. George. Too many weeks of running in the teens, when my feet aren't ready yet? What did I do? :(

From rAtTLeTrAp on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 12:14:57 from 72.102.217.39

Amy - Yes, I did run Boston after all that! I hate going to the doc too, but the only way to be sure about a fracture is getting an xray.

From Lily on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 12:32:47 from 67.199.178.210

I'm so sorry. I think sometimes our bodies just needs breaks and longer rests in between races. I really do.

I hope there is better news for you soon.

From Kelli on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 13:24:26 from 71.219.67.82

WOW, I missed a lot here. SO, have you been to the doctor? I am just hoping it is something else. I have a spot on the side of my left foot that gets red and swollen quite often and it really hurts to touch for a few days, but then it goes away. Let's hope yours is just something like that! WE CAN ALWAYS HOPE!!!!

And, should I come over and smack your husband for ya????

From Scott Wesemann on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 14:02:14 from 205.158.160.209

Ahhhhhhh! Sucky sucky! Let me know what you find out. I have been excited to kick your butt at St. George for months. Hopefuly it isn't serious.

From I Just Run on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 14:44:15 from 67.79.11.242

Hey Steam,

My daughter got a stress fracture (in her foot)from running...went to the doctor and they ran all kinds of test and found out that she has osteopenia. After a period of healing the doctor had her go to an orthopedic specialist who fitted her feet with inserts/arch supports. This is supposted to help...so far it's worked for her. You might want to be tested and possibly get with an orthopedic doctor...but you're like me, I hate going to the doctor (not only the cost but also the experience).

From Oreo on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 23:27:11 from 71.38.243.197

You probably just need to eat more lemon fruit pies... Just sayin...

From Steam8 on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 23:37:28 from 166.70.55.77

I have an appointment with an orthopedic foot doc that my husband went to school with on Wednesday...so, one week from today.

Lemon fruit pies Oreo? Your name is enough to make me feel like a fatty. I do love the berry fruit pies...always have. Lemon will do when they are out though. :)

Scott - I think over the next few weeks I will be eating so many donuts to make me feel better that by October I will be able to roll my way down the St. George run and take first place! :)

Kelli - you are lucky Scott likes to exercise and understands your craziness!

From Kelli on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 23:54:26 from 71.219.67.82

Yeah, it is one big competition at our house!

From Scott Wesemann on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 11:43:43 from 205.158.160.209

Cherry pies are the best! You should get one today (along with a donut of course) :)

Hope you have a good weekend!

Steam- I have been swamped at work and missed this- I am so sorry, seriously praying for you! I will let Kelli do the smacking.

From Kelli on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 16:38:32 from 71.219.67.82

I am good at smacking people around, ask my husband. ;o)

From Steam8 on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 17:44:43 from 166.70.55.77

Thanks everyone for all of the love. Foot is still red and swollen on top and tingly. My nephew that I run with ran from the University of Utah to his house and did a 20 miler without me! :( :( :(

I haven't cried about my foot today... I guess I will save up for the docs office on Wednesday!

From rAtTLeTrAp on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 17:50:05 from 24.22.239.183

I ran a few extra miles for you today :)

From Steam8 on Sun, Aug 21, 2011 at 02:06:42 from 166.70.55.77

Thanks a lot RAT! I don't know if you are being sarcastic or trying to be nice! I don't like it when anyone is our running and I am NOT! Don't run too many extra....you might end up like me! :(

From RAD on Mon, Aug 22, 2011 at 00:31:13 from 76.27.16.189

I am SO sorry about your darn stinkin' foot!! I too hope it is just a simple issue and that you will be okay to jump back on the band wagon in a couple weeks and still be able to run SGM. You poor thing! I would be crying too!! Any little ache I get now makes me stop and wonder if it is serious! I've been through too many lately and I SO do NOT want to ruin SGM, it's the last chance I've got at a BQ this year due to stupid injuries. I would bawl my eyes out!! I hope this weekend has held some good healing for you.

Fingers crossed for Wednesday - let us know how it goes! Oh, and I'll be running back up with Kelli on the husband smack down.

From I Just Run on Mon, Aug 22, 2011 at 18:36:07 from 67.79.11.242

Praying for a good outcome on Wednesday...Has there been any change?

From Smooth on Tue, Aug 23, 2011 at 18:20:59 from 174.27.193.15

Oh Steam! I haven't been on the blog much lately and missed what's been going on with your life! I am so so so so so so sorry to hear about the troublesome spot on your foot. I hope the doctor has good news and answers for you. Injuries stink!

Sending healing thoughts and vibes your way! hugs!!!
