Recovering from micro-fracture surgery on my right knee.  I tore the cartilage off of my knee while doing a speed-training run one month before Boston.  Doc gave me a cortisone shot so that I was able to finish Boston.  After the surgery, I was told to never run again. :(

"In truth, runners don't race other runners.  They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares.  And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better." Running for His Life by Michael Hall

Hi. Welcome to the FRB. This is a fun place, I bet you'll end up loving it. Watch out for Burt. He's not shy! :)

Burt hasn't stalked me...I am feeling bad! Thanks for the welcome. I can't believe how fast your are. Reading your posts motivates me. I have always run for fun. I've never been super fast, but I think I will give it a go after reading how fast some of you are on here. I ran Scott's first marathon with him. Well, I ran the first 8 miles with him and had to stop. I knew I thought I had another stress fracture but decided to just stay off of it for two weeks and give it a go on race day. It was kill me by mile 7 and stopped at 8. My motivation now is to beat Scott's marathon time! ha!

Stress fractures are no good. So sorry!

I know that you can get faster if you have the drive. Most people can and do get faster with the right workouts and time. Go for it! :)

Oh and I'd like to see you beat Scott's marathon time. I think it's St. Geezy, a 3:50 something? You can do it!

Hey, I hope you beat my time. I am pulling for you. Of course I will beat whatever time you put up :) :) :) :) :)

Hey, if I can make it on someone's Favorite Blogs list without ever commenting, I must be doing something right. Oh, and look. I'm higher up than both you and Lily. Clearly, she likes me more.

Haha Burt! I am the stalker....I even googled chupacabra yesterday! ha! Why would you think a duck was a chupacabra? You must have served a mission in South America and have an underlying fear of them!

From Steam8 on Wed, Apr 13, 2011 at 18:34:15 from 166.70.55.77

And Burt...you are my most fav!

From Burt on Wed, Apr 13, 2011 at 18:42:20 from 206.19.214.144

Woo hoo! You all heard it!

Ok, the chupacabra thing. I thought they were severed heads of dogs, coyotes, or chupacabras. I prepare myself for the worst case scenario when I'm running. One time I saw a dead guy, and thought it was a blow up doll! See? A blow up doll's way worse than a dead guy. (He wasn't really dead. Just passed out drunk.)

Oh no, she must have seen the before and after P90X pics. I can't compete with that. You win Burt.

Steam- :(

Oh poor Scott..he's so sad that you are not his fav.

From Steam8 on Wed, Apr 13, 2011 at 18:56:48 from 166.70.55.77

oooooh yeah! Where are the P90X pics? I might just change my mind! :)

Burt...that chupacabra thing is pretty creapy! From now on, I'm going to be watching out for them and not just snakes, mt lions and the coyotes that I am usually on the lookout for on my runs!
