Personal:

I currently run for Wofford College in South Carolina, where I double major in biology and Spanish. I will be spending 5 months studying abroad in Chile in 2017. I love cookie dough a little too much and spend most of my free time outside or asleep (or both). Living & running to know Christ and to make Him known!

Warmed up around Cullowhee Valley, then did a 5 mile tempo at the rec center. There is a .6 mile loop and a .4 mile loop so I just did 5x(the .6 + .4). I've never done more than 4 miles for a tempo, usually around 7:05-10, so I was hoping for around 7:15-20 for these. Splits were 7:16/7:12/7:23/7:18/7:05, so 7:14.8 average, which I was satisfied with. I was really happy with my mindset during this workout, because usually I hate tempos with a passion and grow to temporarily hate this sport by mile 2 or 3 of them, but I somewhat enjoyed myself today.

Cool down afterwards, followed by some upper body weight lifting and then stretching.

Good luck to you at Wofford. A fine school!

I did my college running at Furman many years ago.

Thank you, I appreciate that! I went to Furman last summer for cross country camp, and it was one of my top schools during my application process - also a fantastic school, and with a great distance program!

I'll be pulling for you. Don't get discouraged if it's a little rough for a while. Wofford is a demanding school and college running is more intense.

Try to get plenty of sleep and watch your diet.

I'm pretty nervous about the change in intensity for sure, but mostly excited and ready to work. Thanks for the encouragement!
